Disney Dining Disaster: The Most Reviled Menu Item at Walt Disney World Revealed

We all go to Walt Disney World for the show, right? Wrong, some of us go for the food!

Disney, unlike your typical theme park, offers a large variety of table service and quick-service dining options around its four theme parks. You’ll find delicious dining all around EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as at Disney Springs and most Walt Disney World Resort Hotels.

Many visitors, myself included, enjoy trying different entrees, snacks, and desserts that are scattered around the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”

Some may prefer the original classic like Mickey Pretzels or Premium Ice Cream Bars, while others have more sophisticated taste, yearning for steak at Le Cellier. Luckily, it doesn’t matter what you’re in the mood for; you’ll find it at Walt Disney World.

Disney Snacks are the Best Snacks

It doesn’t matter if you’re hanging around Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney Springs, or Hollywood Studios; there are a few classic snacks that are ready to take your taste buds to the next level.

We already mentioned Mickey Pretzels and ice cream bars, but Disney is also home to delicious churros, dole whips, and Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwiches. You’ll also find carts scattered throughout the theme parks that offer a wide range of delicious snacks such as spring rolls, popcorn, and much more.

The snack options, normally part of the Disney Dining Plan, are plentiful, to say the least, but they aren’t all created equal. Disney World loyalists all have their favorite, the one snack that really brings their Disney World park day full circle.

For me personally (and I know this will not be a popular opinion), it’s churros and turkey legs! Some swear by the fruit waffle at Sleepy Hollow, while others insist that cheeseburger pods from Satu’li Canteen in Animal Kingdom are one of the best options at Walt Disney World.

Heck, even if you’re not in the mood for something savory and filling, there are plenty of traditional options available in the form of candy and treats like the ones found in Magic Kingdom at Main Street, U.S.A. Confectionary.

Candy apples, Rice Krispy treats, cookies, and more await those with a killer sweet tooth. Snack options are pretty much unlimited at Disney World, ensuring you leave whichever theme park you’re visiting with a full belly!

Table Service Dining at Walt Disney World

When it comes to food at Disney World, although you’ll find numerous quick service options and snacks, some of the best can be found at Table Service locations. Chefs de France in EPCOT’s World Showcase, Tiffins at Animal Kingdom, and Sanaa at Kidani Village all offer premiere, signature dining options that pack a flavorful punch.

Not only does the Table Service option bring ALL the food, but they also can be accompanied by characters! Grabbing a table at Hollywood & Vine at Hollywood Studios or Garden Grill at EPCOT means literally having your cake and eating, too.

However, in this case, you’re getting amazing food accompanied by appearances from the likes of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and others in character dining experiences.

Character dining options are extremely popular, and we admit, the food at these locations isn’t always the best when compared to spots like Victoria & Albert’s or the Boathouse at Disney Springs. Still, they’re a great way to engage with your favorite Disney pals while enjoying a pretty decent meal.

The Best Food Options at Walt Disney World (according to fans)

Some of the best options available to Walt Disney World guests can be found at EPCOT, specifically during one of their annual celebrations, such as the International Food & Wine Festival. The Impossible™ Buffalo Chicken Tenders with Plant-Based Blue Cheese, Plant-Based Ranch and Celery, Oysters Rockefeller, and Pickel Fries with Dill Ranch are some of the options that guests to EPCOT go wild for during the fall event.

As for Disney’s other parks, Wookie Cookies from Backlot Express, Ronto Wraps, beer-cheese and pretzels from Baseline Taphouse, and the Caesar salad at The Brown Derby are highlighted food options at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.

Over at Animal Kingdom, we’ve already discussed cheeseburger pods, but Mr. Kamal’s seasoned fries and great barbeque from Flame Tree are also high on the list!

Here’s where it gets a little tricky, however. Although most Disney dining locations are adored by guests, Magic Kingdom, Disney World’s flagship park, is lacking in terms of food. Although they do have amazing character dining options like Cinderella Royal Table, Be Our Guest, and Crystal Palace, most feel that the park isn’t up-to-standard in the food department compared to the rest of Walt Disney World.

However, cheeseburger spring rolls, refreshing dole whips from Sunshine Terrace, and corndog nuggets from Casey’s Corner are highly sought after by Magic Kingdom guests.

The Absolute Worst Food Option at Walt Disney World (according to fans)

Disney, despite its foodie reputation, has been known to sham a little on certain food options. Loyal park-goers know that typically, it’s a good idea to steer away from pizza and burgers at places like PizzaRizzo or Cosmic Ray’s.

Often, these dishes are made in bulk, flash-fried, or reheated after being frozen for a while. However, unknowing guests still often grab up these “undesirables” as they are typically readily available, cheap, and don’t have a wait list a mile long.

However, although there are plenty of other pizza and burger options around Walt Disney World that are way better than what is served at these quick service locations, we can understand that some may opt for convenience over quality.

Still, the internet and Disney goers have been pretty loud when discussing one item they insist guests should avoid during their visit to Magic Kingdom.

Cosmic Ray’s, situated at the entrance of Tomorrowland, offers up your typical fast food fare but normally isn’t high on the list of places we’d tell you that you have to try. Although their offerings get the job done, it doesn’t hold a candle to other places that serve much better Disney World food.

There is one particular menu item that we, and the rest of the internet, would encourage you to stay away from, however, the pulled pork sandwich.

Like other Disney World food locations, you can find much better-pulled pork around the property.

The Polite Pig at Disney Springs and Regal Eagle Smokehouse at EPCOT are two credible barbeque options. However, guests still order this atrocity of what should be smokey goodness and leave Cosmic Ray’s questioning their decision-making skills.

A recent Reddit post was dedicated to discussing terrible dining and food experiences at Walt Disney World, and the pulled pork sandwich at Cosmic Ray’s won the “worst” award by a landslide.

Guests didn’t go easy on the menu offering, calling it burnt and dry. Some even went as far as to say it made them sick! It would seem that the pulled pork sandwich at Magic Kingdom is ultimately the most despised food offering at Walt Disney World!
