Surprising New Tips for a Walt Disney World Vacation

Walt Disney World has constantly been adjusting and changing over the past few years to help keep Guests and Cast Members safe.  We are grateful for their procedures that have been put in place, but with those have come some new tips we never thought we would be sharing.

Here are some new Walt Disney World tips for Guests that we never thought would be as important as they are now.

Bring Lots of Masks

The current expectations in Walt Disney World regarding masks is that all guests ages two and older are required to wear masks when indoors.  This is in Walt Disney World Resort hotels, on Disney transportation and on any rides or at any shows that are indoors.  Always check Disney’s website HERE for update information.

Because of this requirement, we highly recommend making sure you have a variety of masks packed for your Disney vacation.  Masks in Walt Disney World can get wet, hot and smelly.  Having a few options can allow you to trade out and have new, fresh ones each day.

We also recommend having some different styles as having options will help when it comes to being comfortable.

Mask chains are also a nice help as you will be taking them on and off throughout the day and having a chain, especially for little ones, can prevent masks from being lost.

Set Timers for Water Breaks

Drinking water in Walt Disney World has always been important, but now with wearing a mask it can be easier than ever to forget this important step.

One way to help to make sure everyone in your party stays hydrated is to keep a timer set to take water breaks.  This might seem silly, but when you are rushing from ride to ride in the Magic Kingdom it is easy to stop and take a break for water.  By having an alarm set you can help keep everyone hydrated.

Lip Balm

Another important packing item we would recommend is lip balm.  Once again since wearing masks more, we have noticed that our lips get a lot more dry.  Because of this, we highly recommend having lip balm in your Disney Park bag.

Since these are so small, another tip would be to have them on the outside of your bag so they don’t fall to the bottom of your bag all the time.

This might seem silly, but it can be a huge relief to have lip balm in the Disney Parks.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand Sanitizer and Sanitizer Bag Clip

We have always been one to bring our own hand sanitizer with us on vacation; however, this has become even more important to us in the last few years.

We like to make sure that we have our own hand sanitizer with us and easily accessible with a bag clip.  It is nice to have it right with us at all times so we can quickly clean hands after rides, before snacks or while waiting in line.

Disney is doing a good job at having hand sanitizer around; however, we like our own better and prefer to have it on us at all times.

Lotion

Because of all the hand sanitizer we find ourselves applying throughout our Walt Disney World vacation, another time we have started to bring along is lotion.  The hand sanitizer really dries out our skin and having lotion helps keep them from cracking.

If your Walt Disney World Resort has small, travel size lotions, we suggest tossing that into your Disney Park bag as well.

Reapply That Sunscreen

Obviously this has always been important on a trip to Walt Disney World any time of year, but we have noticed that it is extremely important to reapply that sunscreen to your face.

Because we are taking our masks off and on, our sunscreen seems to come off a lot faster leaving our face with less sunscreen.  This means we need to be more proactive when it comes to keeping that sunscreen applied throughout the day.

When you are taking those water breaks we mentioned earlier, we recommend reapplying the sunscreen as well.

Have a Portable Charger

Cell phones have become even more important this year in Walt Disney World.  With the release of Disney Genie and the ability to add Genie+ and Individual Lighting Lanes, Guests are going to need access to their phones more than ever.

Make sure you don’t end up with a dead phone by packing a portable charger.  Having one in your backpack can really help keep your day moving in the right direction.

We recommend having a portable charger and cord for everyone in the group that has a cell phone.  Everyone is more connected to their phone and even though we would love to leave them behind, a trip to Walt Disney World does rely on having access to a phone.

Look For Characters

Finally, we are so excited about this change in Walt Disney World.  We love that we are finding characters throughout the Walt Disney World Resort now more than ever before.  It is so fun to randomly come across our beloved characters in random places.

Seeing Pluto at our hotel or finding Winnie the Pooh in EPCOT catching butterflies are special, magical moments that we love stumbling across.

We suggest keeping your eyes opened for characters as you move around the Walt Disney World property because you never know when they will show up.

These are the new tips we find ourselves using in Walt Disney World now more than ever before.  We hope that they help you prepare for a magical vacation.
