Walt Disney World Traditions to Begin on your Honeymoon

If you’re a Disney couple, it’s only fitting that your wedding celebrations feature something Disney. You may incorporate Disney into your wedding, especially if you choose not to have a Disney wedding with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings. Another way Disney can feature in your celebrations as you tie the knot is to honeymoon in the Walt Disney World Resort. Take a Disneymoon, as we call it!

Of course, your Disneymoon may not be the first time you visit Walt Disney World together. You may have visited previously when you got engaged or otherwise. However, your honeymoon is an excellent time to begin a Disney tradition or two. Likewise, if your upcoming Disney vacation is the first time you will be visiting with your soulmate, or you plan to propose, you may want to consider starting a new tradition.

Your Photo Spot

Is there a place in a Disney Park or at Disney’s BoardWalk or Disney Springs that you and your partner adore? If the answer is yes, then why don’t you claim it as your photo spot? Once you’ve chosen your photo spot, you make a tradition that you will always get a photo at that spot during every future Disney vacation. Maybe you plan to grow your family. Over time, you’ll have a collection of pictures in your photo spot that document how your adventure together has evolved. Your photo spot may even become the one for your children, grandchildren, and so on.

Popular locations for a photo spot are in front of the Walt Disney World icons – Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Park, the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, Spaceship Earth in EPCOT, or the Hollywood Tower Hotel in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Alternatively, your photo spot could be where one of you asked the important question, ‘Will you marry me?’ Or maybe it’s where you shared your first kiss as a couple in Walt Disney Word? If you share the same favorite ride, then just outside of the Disney attraction could be where you always take a photo.

A Dining Tradition

There are plenty of Disney restaurants in the Walt Disney World Resort. Do you and your partner share a favorite full-service restaurant? If so, a perfect tradition for you would be to dine there once per Disney vacation. Another way to set a dining tradition is to enjoy a signature dining experience during every Walt Disney World vacation. It’s a perfect opportunity for date night. You both dress up, ready for an evening of sophisticated dining.

Disney character dining is another tradition you can make on your honeymoon. Make a promise to yourselves that you will always make time for one dining experience with your favorite Disney characters during a Walt Disney World Resort visit. While you may not wish to wait in line for Disney characters in the Disney Parks, instead, you can share breakfast or dinner with them. Disney character dining meals are always a good idea if you plan to use the Disney Dining Plan too.

Dated Christmas Ornament

Disney merchandise can help you to keep track of your Disney vacations. One of our favorite pieces of merchandise to buy are Christmas ornaments. Purchasing a Disney Christmas ornament during every Disney trip allows you to remember your Disney experience, grow a collection that you can display each year during the holidays, and guarantees you the opportunity to buy a different design each time. We recommend getting your ornament dated during each trip. Visit Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom Park or Mickey’s Days of Christmas in Disney Springs (previously known as Downtown Disney) to have your ornament personalized.

Send a Postcard to Yourself

One tradition we began on our Disneymoon was sending ourselves a postcard. It’s a tradition that can extend beyond a Disney vacation, as you can get a postcard from every place you visit. The tradition can also extend to holidays with Disney Cruise Line, Disney’s Castaway Cay, and other Disney Parks worldwide. Look for a postcard specific to a Disney Resort hotel, Disney attraction, or Disney character. Once you’ve found the perfect postcard, buy it and fill it with memories from your vacation, then post it to yourself. You could even collect Disney character autographs on your postcard. The vacation blues are lessened when you are home waiting to receive your post. Postcards can make a unique photo display or can be easily stored in a photo album.

Experience Something New Every Visit

Honeymooning in the Walt Disney World Resort is an excellent time to set a tradition that you will always experience something new whenever you visit. The beauty of this tradition is that the possibilities are almost endless. There are so many ways to experience something new every visit. New experiences could involve staying in a Walt Disney World hotel you’ve not stayed in before. You may decide to dine at a restaurant you are yet to eat in. A future Disney vacation may coincide with the opening of a new Disney attraction. Or you may see a Disney nighttime spectacular for the first time.
