Wait! Don’t Do This On Your Disney Vacation

We understand that you want to be as prepared as possible for your Walt Disney World vacation.  From determining which Disney Resort hotel to stay at to learning all the Disney words you need to know (we have them HERE), there is so much to think about when it comes to a Walt Disney World vacation.

Although we have a lot of tips and tricks of what to do on your Walt Disney World vacation, we also wanted to make sure you don’t do some things that might cause your trip to be not as magical.

Don’t Sleep In Everyday

We understand that this is a vacation; however, if you want to beat the crowds that means setting that alarm.

If you choose to purchase Genie+ or want to make any Individual Attraction Selections, you will do that at 7 am each morning.  Being on the My Disney Experience app ready at 7 am is extremely important to ensure you are able to snag those selections that are important to you.

Another reason you won’t want to sleep in everyday is because you will want to take advantage of the early entry at a Theme Park.  Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel are allowed into the Disney Parks a half hour before scheduled Park opening.

Even though a half hour might not seem like a lot of time, taking advantage of this extra time is a great way to get ahead of the crowd and knock out some of the top rides in the Theme Parks without a long wait.

Don’t Get Up Early Everyday

You also don’t want to get up early every day of your Disney vacation.  Although we do think there is a huge bonus to getting to the Parks early, if you do it everyday of your vacation you are going to get burnt out.

Instead of pushing it to be at the Parks at rope drop each day of our vacation, schedule in a day to sleep-in.  Allow your body to reset and relax midway through your vacation.

Enjoy the Resort pool, schedule a nice breakfast or just sleep-in.  Doing these things midway through the trip allows everyone a nice reset so they are ready to tackle more of the magic.

Don’t Forget Rain Gear

Don’t forget to pack rain gear while on your Walt Disney World vacation.  Even if the weather app says no rain in the forecast as you are packing, we still highly recommend packing some rain gear.

Disney rain storms pop-up randomly and can catch you off guard.  You don’t want to be stuck with wet clothes and shoes so make sure you have rain jackets, ponchos or umbrellas packed.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking it won’t rain during your vacation just because there isn’t rain listed in the forecast.  Be prepared by having that rain gear in your Park bag.

Don’t Buy Water In the Park

It is super important to stay hydrated in Walt Disney World, but don’t spend your money on water in the Parks.

There are a variety of different ways to get water when in Walt Disney World.  If you aren’t a fan of the regular water at Disney, you can have bottled water delivered to your Resort.

You can also bring in your own refillable water bottle into the Parks and refill them throughout the day.

Finally, Disney provides free, ice water at all quick service locations that Guests can help themselves to.

If you do have issues with the taste of the Disney water, consider bringing flavors to help.  You can also bring hydration packets as well to help fight the heat and humidity.

Don’t Eat the Same Food

A big mistake that Guests make when heading to Walt Disney World is eating the same food for every meal.

If you think that Disney is all hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken nuggets you would be missing out on some great meals.

Look into all of the dining locations at the Parks and check out the menus online or on the My Disney Experience app.  There are some fantastic choices at each Park.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can check out Flame Tree Barbecue or Satu’li Canteen.  Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Ronto Roasters, 50s Prime Time Cafe, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo all offer unique and fun choices.

EPCOT’s World Showcase provides a variety of foods from around the world, and Magic Kingdom has the famous Dole Whip and spring rolls.

Don’t make the mistake of eating the same food each meal, but instead try out some of the unique offerings in the Theme Parks.

Don’t Forget the Essentials

When heading to the Theme Parks, make sure that you have your Park bag packed and ready.  Don’t make the mistake of forgetting the essential items back at your resort.

One of the main items that you will want to make sure you have with you is a portable charger.  Your cell phone is so important as it is how you will access My Disney Experience Disney’s app that holds so much information.

From ordering food and making Genie+ selections to seeing wait times and finding bathrooms, you will want to make sure your phone remains charged throughout the day.

Other items like water bottles, sunscreen, and lip balm are important to have with you throughout the day so you can stay comfortable as you visit the Parks.

Be prepared for your Walt Disney World vacation by making sure you don’t do these things during your trip.

There are a lot of tips and tricks for having a magical vacation and we hope that these will help you as you get ready and plan.
