Yes, winter does happen even at Walt Disney World. Visiting Walt Disney World during the next few months, you will want to prepare for cooler temperatures. Even if the sun is shining and warm during the day, it can get cool in the evenings when the sun goes down.

If you are staying to enjoy one of the nighttime spectaculars, you will want to make sure that you are packed to stay warm. We hope these items will help you have a magical time during these next few cooler months in Walt Disney World.

10. Layers

Step one of packing for the cooler months at the Walt Disney World Resort is to have layers. Mornings and evenings will get colder, but you might have some pleasant, warm afternoons. Because of this, you will want to have items you can layer.

Start by thinking about what sweatshirts or light jackets you could bring that would easily fit into your Disney Park bag. These will be nice to have so you can have them on during the morning, but toss them into your bag once it warms up.

For those that love wearing Disney skirts and dresses, consider having leggings you can put on underneath them. This will keep your legs warm as you experience the Parks.

Layers will be one of the essential items you bring with you during these cooler months of the year.

9. Coats and More

It might seem strange to many to think that you will need a winter coat at Walt Disney World, but we highly recommend tossing one into your suitcase. We have seen some days that stay right around 30 outside. This can be extremely cold while experiencing rides.

We also recommend having mittens, a scarf, and something to cover your ears. These can make a huge difference when the temperature is cold. Keeping your head and hands warm makes you feel much more comfortable.

There are so many small winter coats you can roll into your suitcase and bags that it will be well worth having along for your trip when it gets cold.

8. Hand Warmers

This might seem extreme to some, but we love having hand warmers with us. Keeping our hands warm while walking around the Parks can make all the difference in our attitude.

These are so small that it can be easy to toss them in and use them throughout the early morning or late nights in the Parks.

7. Blanket

Another item that might seem strange, but we highly recommend having it with you during your winter trip, is a blanket. When waiting for the parade or the evening shows, having a blanket on the cold ground or the metal seats are fantastic. You can also cuddle up in them if it gets too cold. Find that Mickey-themed blanket to bring along with you!

6. Swimsuits

This might seem strange after the other items we have told you to bring, but you will also want to ensure you bring your swimsuits. Disney pools are heated throughout the year, making them fun all year round.

Toss in those swimsuits for those warm days you will have during your trip. You can still use the pools even if it doesn’t get super warm during your vacation.

5. Sunscreen

When you plan to visit Walt Disney World, sunscreen is essential. Even if the temperatures are cooler, the Florida sun is still intense. Make sure you come prepared with sunscreen to keep you protected. You don’t want to get burnt while on vacation, so keep yourself protected.

4. Comfortable Shoes

Having comfortable shoes is essential when visiting Walt Disney World, but it becomes even more critical during the colder months. You will want to ensure that you have shoes that keep your feet warm. Having cold and tired feet isn’t going to be fun, so make sure you prepare ahead of time, so your feet stay happy.

3. Holiday Gear

Bring some holiday gear if you happen to be traveling during the holiday celebrations. Consider wearing fun holiday-themed shirts, ears, or those holiday pajamas if you attend the Christmas Party. Having holiday-themed items to add to your outfits adds a little extra magic.

2. RainGear

Even though it isn’t as rainy during the winter compared to those summer storms, we recommend bringing rain gear with you. Think about what gear will work well for warm and cold rain storms. Having some cheap ponchos might work well to toss over your winter coat if needed.

We also suggest bringing extra socks and shoes to Walt Disney World. There is nothing worse than walking around in wet shoes. Have a second pair ready to go, just in case.

1. Flexibility

Finally, pack your flexibility and patience when heading to Walt Disney World during winter. With the weather constantly changing, you must be flexible with your plans. Have an overall idea of how you will experience the Disney Parks, but be willing to adjust if you find the mornings or evenings too cold.

If you have some really warm days, be willing to spend more time at the pool relaxing. Flexibility is critical during all Walt Disney World trips, but the weather during the winter months varies greatly. Flexibility will allow you to enjoy Disney magic regardless of the weather.

We recommend ensuring you have these ten items with you during the winter months. These items will help you be prepared for whatever the weather happens to be during your trip.
