Thrill Rides You Won’t Want to Miss in Disney

When a lot of people think of Walt Disney World, they think of princesses, Mickey Mouse, and kiddie rides.  Although you can find these all in Walt Disney World, there are also a lot of thrill rides to experience as well.

For those that want to experience a little thrill (or a lot) during their Walt Disney World vacation, they will be able to find a lot of options in each of the four Theme Parks.

As we don’t all have the same opinion on what is thrilling, we won’t be ranking these thrill rides. Our goal is to give you a look at what thrill rides are in Walt Disney World and give you why they are considered thrill rides.

Buckle up and get ready for a thrill!

Rise of the Resistance- Disney’s Hollywood Studios

One of the newest thrill rides is in Star Wars: Galaxy Edge.  Rise of the Resistance puts Guests right into the fight between the First Order and the Resistance.

This 20-minute experience is thrilling for a variety of reasons.  Not only is it thrilling because you are put right into the action, the fact that there are First Order Cast Members that interact with Guests, and that there are intense situations as Guests try to escape.

Even though this ride isn’t fast and doesn’t have major drops (although there is one), the situation itself is what makes this ride intense.

Millennium Falcon:  Smuggler’s Run- Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Also found in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.  This flight simulator also Guests to live out the dream of flying the Millennium Falcon.

What makes this ride thrilling is the situation that Guests are asked to fly in.  Because it is a flight simulator, this ride doesn’t go very fast and doesn’t have any major drops; however, the intensity and thrill come from the storyline.

Test Track- EPCOT

Over in EPCOT, Guests can race on Test Track.  This extremely popular ride has one big section that is thrilling.  After testing different elements of the car Guests have created, Guests race outside reaching 65 mph.

This is the fastest ride in Walt Disney World.  Little ones love the rush of this ride; however, adults who drive might not find it as thrilling.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train- Magic Kingdom

The most popular ride in Magic Kingdom, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, offers some small thrills that little ones will love.  This smooth family-friendly coaster is a great option for little ones who are ready to try out something a little bit more exciting.

Guests are taken on a fun ride through the mine along with the beloved seven dwarfs.  There aren’t any major drops or twists, but a few fun moments that will leave Guests smiling away.

Splash Mountain- Magic Kingdom

Another thrilling ride found in Magic Kingdom is Splash Mountain.  This water flume ride has the biggest drop in Walt Disney World with a 50-foot plunge into the briar patch.

It isn’t just the big drop that makes this ride thrilling but the multiple mini drops that surprise Guests as they enjoy the ride.

The anticipation is a big part of the thrill.  We look forward to seeing how the thrill continues when Disney changes the theme to feature Princess and the Frog.

Dinosaur Animal Kingdom

Dinosaur-  Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dinosaur is one of the most thrilling rides Guests will experience.

Not only is this ride often in pitch black, but the combination of loud noises and very large dinosaurs also work together to make this ride super thrilling and intense.

Parents should be aware of this one as it surprises many families as they aren’t anticipating just an intense ride.

Expedition Everest– Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest is one of the most thrilling coasters in Walt Disney World.  On this coaster, Guests not only go backward for a section but also experience a large drop.

This is truly an intense and thrilling coaster that Guests absolutely love in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Watch out for the Yeti that makes this mountain home.

Rock n’ Roller Coaster- Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Also, a thrilling coaster in Walt Disney World is the Rock n’ Roller Coaster.  This ride starts with a launch that flies Guests into the ride.

Guests then experience two roll-over loops and a corkscrew.  These inversions along with the speed of the ride make it a real thrill.

Buckle up and get ready to rock on this coaster.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad– Magic Kingdom

Over in Magic Kingdom, Guests will find big thrills on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Even though this coaster doesn’t have any major drops and doesn’t go upside down like Rock n’ Roller Coaster, the twists and turns are so thrilling.

This coaster is fast and with only a lap bar, Guests will find themselves sliding around as you race through the mine.

Space Mountain– Magic Kingdom

The final coaster in Magic Kingdom is Space Mountain.  Because of being in the dark, this coaster offers a lot of thrills.

Those that don’t like not knowing where they are going can find this a little too intense.  There aren’t any huge drops, but there are a lot of quick turns and fast drops that can leave Guests feeling a little out of sorts.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror- Disney’s Hollywood Studios

One of the most thrilling rides in Walt Disney World is the Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The thrill starts as Guests make their way down Sunset Boulevard and can hear the screams coming from the hotel.

The queue continues to add to the thrill as the lobby hasn’t been taken care of since the tragic night.

Finally, the actual ride brings an exciting and thrilling experience as Guests are dropped into the twilight zone.  With no set pattern, each ride is different and unique keeping the thrills going each time.

We think that this ride is one of the most thrilling in all of Walt Disney World.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind:  EPCOT

The newest thrill ride in Walt Disney World will be opening soon in EPCOT.  Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind brings thrills to a new level.

The first-ever reverse launch in Walt Disney World, Cosmic Rewind is bringing the thrill factor up a notch.  Cosmic Rewind also has a ride vehicle that can rotate 360 degrees keeping Guests in the action the whole time.

We can’t wait to experience this new thrill ride at Walt Disney World.

Walt Disney World does offer a lot of rides for little ones; however, thrill-seekers will also find a lot of amazing experiences to do while in Walt Disney World.  Which thrill ride are you excited to take on?
