Prepare for Heat and Humidity in Disney
As we head into the summer months in Walt Disney World, Guests are going to want to prepare for the heat and humidity that will be arriving as well. Summer is one of the most popular times to visit the magic; however, if you are heading down during this time you will want to take steps to make sure you are ready for the weather conditions you will come across.
Summer can be a wonderful time to visit with sunshine, longer hours, pool time, and lots of magic to experience, but be prepared for the heat and humidity with these tips.
Pack for Sun
Our first tip for visiting Disney in the summer starts before you even leave your house and this packing clothes that will be comfortable in the heat and humidity. Consider packing light color clothes that are moisture-wicking.
We also recommend bringing a few outfits per day so you can change into fresh clothes throughout the day. Being able to do this can make a huge difference in your mood.
Prepare for the Sun
This might seem logical, but make sure you are prepared for the sun by having protection. Start by having sunscreen and reapplying it throughout the day. Those Florida rays are strong and reapplying sunscreen is important.
We also recommend bringing a hat or visor in order to protect your face from the sun. This is big if you have little kids. Making sure those heads and faces are covered is important.
We also suggest having an umbrella with you to protect you from the UV rays. This can make a huge difference when it comes to those long queue lines.
Prepare for the Heat
You will also want to make sure you are prepared for the heat and humidity when you head down. We highly recommend investing in portable fans as well as cooling rags. These two items fit nicely in your park bag and are great to have with you in the Parks.
When you are waiting for a ride or a show to start, having some air movement can make a huge difference. Cooling rags, although not super fashionable, can really help cool down your body temperature as well.
These two items make a big difference and are highly recommended to have with you during those warm summer months.
Stay Hydrated
It is always important to stay hydrated in Walt Disney World because of all the walking that you do; however, during the summer months staying hydrating is extremely important. You can bring your own water bottles to the Parks but you can also get free ice water from the quick service locations as well.
During these extremely hot and humid months, we also recommend bringing hydration packets to help with hydration as well.
Hydration is extremely important so make sure you take steps to be successful.
Find Air Condition
A big tip during the hot and humid months is to make sure that you know where the air conditioning is throughout the four Parks. In each of the four Parks, there are excellent options for getting out of the sun and heat. Knowing where these are can really help you spend more time in the Parks.
Take a look at some of our air condition spots:
Magic Kingdom: Mickey’s Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, Country Bear Jamboree
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Festival of the Lion Kingdom, Opening Soon: Finding Nemo
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Mickey Vacation Shorts, Lightning McQueen Racing Academy, Walt Disney Presents
EPCOT: World Showcase shops, films throughout World Showcase (France, China, Canada), Pixar Shorts
Knowing where these areas are in each of the four Parks will allow you to get out of the heat while still enjoying the magic.
Go Early or Stay Late
Another way to avoid the heat and humidity is to plan on being in the Parks early or late when the sun isn’t as strong.
If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, consider taking advantage of the early entry or extended evening hours that are offered.
By being in the Parks early or late, not only will you come across smaller crowds, but you will also have less heat making it a wonderful time to be in the Park.
Take Breaks
Finally, make sure that you allow yourself to take breaks during your Theme Park days during the summer months. Although it is hard to drag yourself away from the magic, giving yourself some downtime is key.
Take time at the Resort to enjoy the pool and activities, take a nap, enjoy a shower and then get ready for the evening at the Parks.
If you aren’t wanting to head all the way back to your Resort, then consider taking breaks at nearby Walt Disney World Resorts. These Resorts offer great dining and shops that can allow you to take time to rest while enjoying the beauty of a Walt Disney World Resort.
Giving yourself time to take a break from the Parks during these hot and humid days can really help you reset and enjoy the magic.
Prepare for the heat and humidity in Walt Disney World this summer with these tips and tricks. Make sure you head down with a plan on how you are going to take breaks and protect yourself by staying hydrated. Having a plan is the first step when it comes to being prepared for the weather in Walt Disney World.
