Less is More

When it comes to packing for the Disney Parks, less is more.  This goes for not just your Disney Park Bag, but also your overall packing.  You might feel like you need to pack the whole house when heading to Walt Disney World but that really isn’t needed.

We have some packing suggestions on How to Disney that can help you narrow down what is essential to pack.  Keep in mind that you are heading to Walt Disney World, not a deserted island.  The Disney Resorts and the Disney Parks will have most of what you need and if not, there are stores quick rideshare away.

For your Disney Park Bag, we highly recommend less.  We have some tips HERE regarding what we keep in our Disney Park bag.  Overall, less to keep track of is always a good option.  Our big must-haves in our bags are portable chargers and sunscreen.  Those two items are essential for making it through the day in a Disney Park.

As you begin planning your packing list, keep in mind the expert secret that less is more.

Shoes are Key

As you work on your packing list, keep in mind one of the most important items is comfortable shoes.  Experts know that they will walk eight to twelve miles per day in Walt Disney World and they want to keep their feet happy with good shoes.

The secret to keeping your feet happy is to make sure to have good walking shoes that are broken in.  Don’t show up in Walt Disney World with brand new shoes.  Make sure you take some practice walks at home to make sure they don’t rub or cause any hot spots.

We also highly recommend having more than one pair of shoes.  Even if you have taken the time to break into your shoes before your trip, you never know when they might cause issues.  Having a backup pair is great.  You can switch them out and if one pair gets wet you have options.

Experts know that having happy feet is the key to a magical experience at the Disney Parks.

Save Money

Another secret tip that Disney experts know is about saving money with dining.  If you are wanting to enjoy a table-service meal, consider booking breakfast or lunch instead of dinner.  Most table-service meals in Walt Disney World offer slightly cheaper options during these two times over dinner.

You can also save money at table-service locations by sharing.  Disney portions are large, so consider sharing one entree and order an extra side, appetizers, or dessert.  This is a great way to save some money and also not feel overly full.  If you do choose this option, keep in mind those lovely Cast Members when tipping.

Look to see if the table-service location you are interested in has a lounge connected to it.  This is a great way to be able to experience some of the food at a cheaper cost as well.  Space 220 offers a lounge that allows Guests to order off a menu instead of having the pre-fixe menu.

Mobile Order Early

We are thrilled that so many of Disney’s quick-service locations now order mobile ordering.  It is nice to be able to get on the My Disney Experience app and place your order ahead of time.

The secret that Disney experts know is that you want to place your mobile orders early in the day.  As there are limited spots available, you don’t want to wait until you are hungry to order.  Be like the experts and get on the app early in the day so you can get your orders placed and your time slots picked.

Since you aren’t charged for your order until you click the “prepare my order” button in the app, you are able to modify, adjust and cancel.  Experts are aware of this and make sure they are prepared so they don’t go hungry.

Know Where to Ride

Being on any ride is magical and fun; however, Disney experts know the best seats to get the best experience.  If you are wanting to a more intense ride, ask for the back of the roller coasters such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Rock n’ Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, and Expedition Everest.  For those wanting a less intense experience, ask for the front of these coasters.

For a great experience on Soarin’ Around the World, ask for B1.  This makes the visuals the best and prevents feet from being in your vision.

Keep in mind that requests can’t always be granted to be understanding and listen to the Cast Members.

My Disney Experience App

Use My Disney Experience

The final secret tip from Disney experts is to use the My Disney Experience app.  This might not seem like a secret as it is basically required when in Walt Disney World.  Experts; however, know how to use the app to make their day in the Parks smoother.

We already mentioned mobile ordering, but experts also use features such as mobile check-out in the stores as well as the walk-up waitlists offered at some of the table-service locations.

There is so much offered within the app that Disney experts know that it is truly the key to the magic right now in the Disney Parks.

These are some of the top secrets that Disney experts use when they visit the Walt Disney World parks.  Make your trip just as great as the experts by using these secret tips too.
