What Makes runDisney Events So Special?

Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just starting out, runDisney makes every runner feel like the hero of their own story. Each weekend typically includes:

  • Multiple race options (5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon)
  • Themed races featuring characters, music, and park routes
  • Exclusive finisher medals designed around the event theme
  • On-course entertainment like DJs, performers, and photo ops
  • Disney Sunrise Yoga in a theme park (offered at select weekends)

Each event is a full experience, not just a race. Runners often dress in costume, celebrate personal milestones, and meet others who share their love of Disney and fitness.

Finisher Medals Worth Running For

Every runDisney race awards a uniquely designed medal inspired by Disney characters, stories, or park icons. From princesses to villains, chefs to superheroes, each medal is a shimmering symbol of your achievement and dedication. Some events even offer multi-race challenges, allowing participants to earn extra bling.

Disney Sunrise Yoga

Select runDisney weekends also offer Sunrise Yoga, a peaceful, early-morning experience held inside a Disney theme park. It’s a magical way to begin your weekend, stretching and centering yourself with Cinderella Castle as your backdrop.

runDisney Health & Fitness Expo

Before hitting the course, runners must attend the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, typically held at ESPN Wide World of Sports. This is where you’ll pick up your bib, participant shirt, and gear—and shop for race-exclusive merchandise. It’s also a great spot to explore the latest in running gear and wellness products.

Registration Tips

runDisney events sell out quickly, sometimes within minutes. Be sure to:

  • Create a runDisney account ahead of time
  • Log in early on registration day
  • Consider Club runDisney for early access (Gold and Platinum levels)

Registration usually opens 6–9 months before each race, and Disney Vacation Packages often offer pre-sale opportunities for registered resort guests.

Can’t Make It to the Parks? Try a runDisney Virtual Race!

If a trip to Walt Disney World isn’t in the cards, you can still be part of the magic with a runDisney Virtual Race. These races can be completed from anywhere, in your neighborhood, in a local trail, or on a treadmill.

Virtual races are easier to register for, since they don’t have the limited capacity of in-person events. Just sign up, complete the distance on your own schedule, and you’ll still receive an official runDisney finisher medal shipped right to your door.

It’s a perfect option for those who want to join the runDisney fun without traveling, or for anyone who wants to train toward a goal in a more flexible format.
