Bus Strikes Pole Near Downtown Disney, Guests Capture Scene
A minor transportation incident at Disneyland Resort was recorded by guests this week.
Disneyland operates at a density few destinations can match. Tens of thousands of guests move through its infrastructure each day, relying on buses, trams, walkways, and private vehicles to transition between carefully managed environments.
When those systems falter, even briefly, the effects are often documented instantly. Smartphones have shifted how incidents are perceived, turning isolated events into shared narratives shaped by photos, captions, and reposts.

In recent months, Disney has seen several such moments circulate online. Some involved guest conduct, others weather or facilities. None were catastrophic, but together they illustrate the constant pressure placed on large-scale leisure operations.
Earlier this year, a guest riding a mobility scooter was arrested for public intoxication at the park entrance. Video of the incident spread widely, prompting renewed attention to enforcement and guest behavior policies.
Environmental factors have also played a role. Poor weather earlier this month led to a tree collapsing on Main Street, U.S.A. during a ticketed evening event, temporarily interrupting guest flow and park operations.
Bus Collision Documented Near Downtown Disney
The most recent incident took place near a transportation access point rather than inside the park itself.
A guest shared images on Reddit showing a bus striking a light pole at the Downtown Disney drop-off area at Disneyland Resort. The impact caused the pole to fall to the ground.

According to the guest, the light remained operational after the collision, though they chose not to approach the area due to potential safety concerns.
“The whole light pole fell and surprisingly it’s still working. Didn’t get too close to it in case of exposed wire or anything but what a sight [to see],” the guest wrote. “Quality is kinda eh since I just pulled out my phone so nothing amazing.”
No injuries were reported in the post, and there has been no confirmation of service delays or guest impact stemming from the incident.

Disneyland Resort has not publicly commented on the collision. It remains unclear whether repairs were required or whether the bus involved was removed from service.
Transportation areas often see less visibility than attractions or entertainment offerings, yet they are critical to guest experience. Drop-off zones, in particular, operate under tight spatial and timing constraints.
Transportation Changes Add Broader Context
The timing of the bus incident coincides with significant changes to transportation services supporting Disneyland Resort visitors.
The Anaheim Resort Transportation system, commonly referred to as ART, has long provided shuttle services across the Anaheim Resort district. The system is operated by the Anaheim Transportation Network.
ART buses transport guests from the Toy Story Parking Area to the parks free of charge, while paid routes serve nearby hotels, the Anaheim Convention Center, and other locations.

That service is now ending. In a statement posted to its website, the Anaheim Transportation Network confirmed plans to wind down operations.
“After an extended evaluation of our current and future financial position and exhausting all options, ATN will begin an orderly wind down of operations,” the statement reads. “This transition will be implemented in a manner to allow for coordination and transparency as services are responsibly concluded.”
The announcement has prompted concern among guests who rely on ART as a predictable alternative to driving or rideshare services, particularly during busy travel periods.
