Disney Cruise Line
Our Ideal Disney Cruise: Predictions and Wishes for the 2027 Ship

It feels like forever ago that Josh D’Amaro took the D23 stage in August 2024 to unveil that four new ships were coming to Disney Cruise Line between 2027 and 2031. And honestly, we almost forgot about it, until Disney announced that Galveston, Texas, will become a full-time port starting in 2027. That got our cruise-loving brains spinning again: what if the 2027 Wish-class ship is headed for the Lone Star State?
So while Disney has been (understandably) quiet about this ship since the announcement, we’re diving back in with a fun round of predictions. Will we hear more at the next D23? Probably! Until then, here’s what we imagine might set sail.
Here’s What We Know
- The 2027 ship will be a Wish-class vessel, joining the Disney Wish (2022), Disney Treasure (2024), and Disney Destiny (2025).
- It will weigh approximately 144,000 gross tons, accommodate 4,000 guests, and run on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
- The other three new ships announced at D23 will be part of a brand-new class, focusing on eco-efficiency, tech innovation, and the ability to reach more global ports.

Possible Names for the 2027 Disney Ship
In classic Disney style, we expect something whimsical and heartwarming. Here are our top name predictions:
- Disney Friendship
- Disney Infinity
- Disney Legacy
- Disney Happiness
- Disney Journey
All of these reflect Disney’s emotional storytelling style, with a sprinkle of pixie dust and grandeur.
Theming: Princesses & Fairytales
Given that the ship will be part of the Wish class, it’s safe to expect more royal magic. Our bet? An immersive princess-forward design. That could include:
- A Grand Hall themed to a different Disney heroine (we’d love to see Aurora or Belle!)
- Environments celebrating films like Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty
- Character dining, enchanted lounges, and kid spaces inspired by classic fairytales

Where Will It Sail? All Signs Point to Galveston
With Disney Cruise Line announcing Galveston as a full-time port beginning in 2027, this new ship seems perfectly timed for a Texas debut. Why Galveston?
- It opens up sailings to the Western Caribbean, Mexico, and Southern U.S. ports
- It makes Disney Cruise Line more accessible to guests in the central U.S.
- And hey, everything’s bigger in Texas, even the Disney magic
New Additions We’re Hoping For
We know the staples will be there:
- Palo for adults-only fine dining
- Senses Spa & Fitness Center for ocean-view relaxation
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for fairytale transformations
- Walt Disney Theatre with Broadway-caliber shows
But what about something brand-new?
A Roller Coaster Inspired by The Little Mermaid
Yup. You read that right. We’re dreaming of the first princess-themed thrill ride at sea! Picture it:
- A thrilling coaster that dives and glides “under the sea”
- Ariel and her sisters are guiding the ride through an oceanic adventure
- Music, bioluminescent lighting, and that signature Disney storytelling
Not only would it be a tribute to one of Disney’s most beloved princesses, but it would pair perfectly with the cruise setting. C’mon, it’s right there.

Predicted Onboard Shows: Let the Magic Sing!
If there’s one thing Disney does at sea that makes jaws drop, it’s their live shows. We think the 2027 ship could debut:
A Princess and the Frog Musical
- Tiana deserves a spotlight at sea, and a Broadway-style musical with jazz, bayou charm, and beignets? Yes, please.
- It fits perfectly with the princess theme and brings some New Orleans flair to the open ocean.
What Do You Want to See Onboard?
Would you be first in line for an Ariel coaster? Want a Belle-themed buffet? Is Galveston a dream departure port or too far to reach?
We may not know all the answers yet, but we predict the next major update will come at D23 in 2026. Until then, we’ll be dreaming, speculating, and refreshing our browsers obsessively.
Tell us: What would YOU like to see in Disney’s upcoming 2027 cruise ship?
