10 Rides in Magic Kingdom We Love At Night

As we head into the summer, the temperatures will rise at Walt Disney World. This makes being in Disney Parks at night ideal. The sun goes down, crowds are lower, and the overall temperate is much easier to manage.

Disney Parks are a lot different at night when the lights come on. We also recommend that Guests experience the Parks during the evening hours. There are even some rides that we prefer to share at night in Magic Kingdom.

Let’s look at ten rides we think you should ensure you experience at night while visiting Magic Kingdom.

Dumbo Ride

10. Dumbo the Flying Elephant- Storybook Circus

At night the whole Storybook Circus area comes to life under the lights. Riding the iconic Dumbo the Flying Elephant at night is beautiful as the light illuminates the ride.

A bonus for riding Dumbo the Flying Elephant at night is that you get great views of the Magic Kingdom as Dumbo flies high up in the air. This can be fun to catch some of the fireworks if you don’t feel like you need to have a front view.

9. Astro Orbiter- Tomorrowland

Another great ride that allows Guests to see the beauty of the Magic Kingdom at night is Astro Orbiter. Since it is high above Tomorrowland, Guests can truly take in the beauty of Magic Kingdom at night.

This is a fantastic ride during the fireworks if you can plan it right. Seeing the castle, Space Mountain, and the fireworks all come together is a tremendous experience.

8.Prince Charming Regal Carrousel- Fantasyland

Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel in Fantasyland is another beautiful ride to experience at night. This gorgeous ride comes to life even more under the lights of Fantasyland. Something is relaxing and calming about riding this ride under the lights. It is truly a throwback to easier and calmer times.

7. Haunted Mansion- Liberty Square

If you want a little more thrill to your evening, consider riding the Haunted Mansion at night. Even though nothing changes about the ride, there is something a little more spooky about approaching the mansion at night.

We love how the windows and the graveyard have an eerie feel in the evening that is a little more intense than during the day. It is fun to experience the Haunted Mansion in the evening just once to feel the difference.

6. Space Mountain- Tomorrowland

It may seem silly to have Space Mountain on a list focusing on riding at night because it is inside, but Space Mountain seems darker and more intense in the evening. If you are looking for lower wait times and a higher thrill, consider checking out Space Mountain during the evening.

5. Tomorrowland Speedway- Tomorrowland

This isn’t a ride that is typically on our list when visiting Magic Kingdom, but it does become more enjoyable in the evening. This might be because it isn’t so hot, making the wait and the fumes easier to handle. We also like it at night because it provides excellent views of Tomorrowland. With TRON: Lightycle run opening in April, it will make riding Tomorrowland Speedway at night even more appealing.

We also like being on the ride during the fireworks. They often go above your head as you drive around.

4. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train- Fantasyland

By riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at night, the twists and turns of the ride are a little exciting. You aren’t able to anticipate them as much, and it is so much fun to come out of the mine into the dark or as fireworks fill the sky.

This is a good ride as the Park begins to close, as the wait times will be slightly lower.

Jungle Cruise

3. Jungle Cruise- Adventureland

This ride is just more jungle-like in the evening hours. Although it may be harder to see some of the details, the overall feel of the ride is more exciting as you travel through the rivers.

Even though the ride and jokes are the same overall, there is something different about the experience at night.

We enjoy seeing the different scenes light up, making some of them a little spooky.  Experiencing it at night is different enough from the daytime that we suggest trying it out once during your trip to Magic Kingdom.

2. Big Thunder Mountain- Frontierland

Big Thunder Mountain is a fantastic ride but it becomes a bit wild at night. Since most of the ride is outside, riding at night brings new excitement and thrill.

Some aspects of the ride come to life even more at night, under the lights, and there is something magical if you can catch part of the fireworks show while on the ride.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is always a favorite in Magic Kingdom, and riding it at night makes it even more exciting.

People Mover

1. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover- Tomorrowland

Our favorite ride to experience at night in Magic Kingdom is Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. This ride provides excellent views of the castle and Tomorrowland as you travel around the land.

If you don’t want to be in the middle of the fireworks crowd, riding the PeopleMover during the nighttime show is a great way to experience the magic differently.

We always love the calmness of the PeopleMover, and the nighttime vibe is even more magical.

If you can visit Magic Kingdom at night during your trip, you will want to experience these ten rides. They are a little extra magical under the stars.
