Where to Escape in Disney When You Need a Break

The Walt Disney World Resort is magical but it can also be a lot.  With the crowds and heat, sometimes you just need a break from it all.

We wanted to share a few places we enjoy in Walt Disney World when we just can’t Disney anymore and need to step away from a Theme Park.

These provide a great break from the hustle and bustle of a Disney Park and give us a nice breather.

We hope these will help you find a quick break and give you some pixie dust so you can continue to enjoy the magic.

Magic Kingdom Hub Grass

One of the best places in all of Walt Disney World to step away from the craziness is the hub grass in front of the castle.

We love grabbing a snack (hello spring rolls) and finding a nice area to spread out and relax.  We can still feel part of the magic here but also get the break we need.

The hub is a great place to take a break as you can still enjoy the Cavalcades and Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire on the castle stage while relaxing.

We find the hub grass at Magic Kingdom one of the best places to take a break and still be a part of the magic.

Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you find yourself in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and needing a break from the heat, people, and everything else we highly recommend checking out Nomad Lounge near Pandora.

Nomad Lounge doesn’t take reservations but you can join the walk-up waitlist through the My Disney Experience app.

The lounge offers both indoor and outdoor seating that both provide a relaxing and calming atmosphere.  Guests can enjoy comfortable couches and chairs that are perfect for a nice break or even a nap.

If you choose to sit outside, the trees and water make it a truly amazing experience.

For a Park that can be a lot in the summer, Nomad Lounge provides an excellent spot for getting away.

Beaches

Another spot where you can find an escape from the Disney stress is the beaches at the different Disney Resorts.

At the beaches, Guests can enjoy relaxing lounge chairs and even some hammocks.

The combination of the water and the calming breeze makes the beach a fantastic escape.

Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort all offer beautiful large beaches for Guests to enjoy.

You don’t have to be staying at one of these Resorts to enjoy the beaches.   You are welcome to hop on the Skyliner or monorail to enjoy a break on the beach.

Flame Tree Barbecue- Disney’s Animal Kingdom

This might seem silly, but the seating area around Flame Tree Barbecue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a great place to escape.

Not only is there a lot of shade, which is extremely important and hard to find in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but there is also a lot of seating.

The decorations are fun and you can also see the flotillas go by as well.  Grab a snack from Flame Tree Barbecue (it is one of my favorite places to eat) and enjoy some quiet time.

Center Street- Main Street, U.S.A., Magic Kingdom

A very hidden gem in Magic Kingdom is found right down Main Street, U.S.A.  It might be surprising to learn that there is a quiet little area right in the middle of the craziness of Main Street, U.S.A.

Center Street is a quiet little side street located on the same side as Starbucks.  This is a small side street that is almost always empty besides a few hard-core Disney fans that know about the secret spot.

The area offers some nice seating areas, shade, and beautiful scenery.  Enjoy the details that the Disney Imagineers put into this hidden area and make sure you have your ears open.  You never know what you might hear from the open windows.

We find Center Street to be a truly magical place to visit even when we don’t need a break.

Disney Resorts

A great escape from the craziness of the Disney Parks is to head over to a Disney Resort.  Even if you aren’t staying at one of the Disney Resorts, they offer an excellent escape and a nice place to relax.

Most of the Disney Resorts have amazing lobbies that have a lot of great seating areas for Guests to enjoy.  You can also often find hidden areas such as at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort there is now a whole seating area where the old check-in spot used to be.  It is an excellent place to catch a nap, enjoy a drink, or even just chat with family and friends.

Another amazing Resort to visit for a place to relax is Disney’s Riviera Resort.  Jump on the Skyliner and head over to the Voyageur’s Lounge.  Located right near Le Petit Cafe, this lounge is a nice, cozy location.  Designed to look like a library, it has a warm and welcoming feel that is just right for relaxing.

Each Disney Resort has these hidden gems that make it a perfect place to step away from the Disney Parks when you need a break.

We absolutely love the magic and fun of a Walt Disney World vacation; however, we also have those moments where we just need a break.  Knowing where some good break options are located can really make a huge difference.

We hope that providing these options to you will help you find a place to relax during your Walt Disney World vacation.
