Unsanitary Trend at Disney Sparks Outrage Among Guests

Disney theme parks may be designed to create magical experiences, but no amount of Imagineering can control guest behavior. While most visitors follow the rules, there are always those who push the boundaries—whether by sneaking illegal substances into the parks, stripping naked on attractions, or even placing reckless bets that lead to dangerous stunts.

Now, reports suggest that some guests at Hong Kong Disneyland are engaging in a particularly unsanitary practice: urinating in public instead of using restrooms.

Public Urination Becoming a Problem With Some Disney Guests

According to HK01, some visitors have been caught relieving themselves in open areas rather than waiting for the nearest restroom. A recent video shared on Threads showed an adult guest peeing in a leafy section of the park, accompanied by a young child who the user claimed also urinated and defecated in the same spot.

The user further alleged that a friend working at the theme park reported seeing similar behavior “every day.”

Other Threads users expressed frustration over the trend, with one commenting, “Behind the untutored children, there must be untutored parents.” Others pointed out that Disney parks are equipped with numerous restrooms, making the behavior entirely unnecessary. “There are toilets all around Disneyland,” another user wrote. “There is no need to wait for the men’s toilet.”

Public urination is illegal in Hong Kong, carrying a fine of HK$2,000 ($257) for adults who allow children under 12 to commit such an act.

Not the First Time at a Disney Park

This isn’t the first time a Disney park has dealt with issues of public urination—or worse. Shanghai Disneyland has long struggled with similar problems. In 2023, signs featuring characters from Zootopia (2016) were placed around the park, reminding guests to “hop on over to the nearest bathroom” after reports surfaced of young visitors urinating and defecating in public.

Even Disney’s U.S. parks have seen their share of shocking incidents. In 2024, a woman was asked to leave Disneyland Park after being caught peeing into a cup and dumping it into a bush in New Orleans Square. That same year, a photo circulated on Facebook showing an adult guest and a young child urinating against the construction walls around Splash Mountain during its transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

With Disney parks welcoming millions of guests annually, it’s inevitable that some will engage in bad behavior. However, parkgoers are making one thing clear: they want this particular trend to end.
