Everything You Don’t Want to Miss in Walt Disney World This March

Spring is coming, and the warmer weather is consistent in Lake Buena Vista. Are you counting down to your next Disney vacation? Has your countdown reached the teens?

March has some exciting things in store at the Walt Disney World Resort. Here are all the things to experience and enjoy this month of 2023.

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

The new month brings the start of a unique celebration in EPCOT. The Disney Park is filled with colorful blooms as the International Flower and Garden Festival begins. Guests can experience this excellent Festival from March 1 through to July 5. Will you be visiting the EPCOT theme park during this beautiful Festival?

Ensure you find all the Disney character topiaries and sample dishes and beverages from the Outdoor Kitchens. See the interactive experiences, like Bambi’s Butterfly House, and ride on Living with the Land.

Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary 

Over the last 18 months, Walt Disney World has been celebrating its 50th Anniversary. March brings the final month of the celebrations. This is your final opportunity to see the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection golden statues around the Disney Parks, admire the Beacons of Magic in the evenings, and experience Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade in Magic Kingdom Park. Additionally, if you have yet to pick up a piece of merchandise in honor of the 50th Anniversary, stop by World of Disney in Disney Springs for the entire collection.

TRON LightCycle Run Previews

TRON LightCycle Run officially opens in April, but in the meantime, previews continue for the new Disney attraction. Annual Passholder previews begin on March 4 and run through March 12. While TRON LightCycle Run is not yet open for Guests to experience, the attraction will use Virtual Queue when it opens on April 4.

Disney After Hours

Do you want to spend an evening in a Disney Park, with low crowds, short attraction lines, and snacks and beverages to enjoy? Then you’ll want to purchase tickets for one of the Disney After Hours events. Several of the After Hours events take place in March.

Magic Kingdom After Hours events occurs on March 2, 6, 13, 16, 20, and 27. All events in the Disney theme park are currently available. Purchase your tickets on the Walt Disney World website.

After Hours events also occur in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in March. While the March 8 event is sold out, tickets are still available for March 22 and 29.

Last week, The Walt Disney Company confirmed that additional Disney After Hours events would occur throughout 2023. Disney After Hours will be held in EPCOT, with the first event being held on June 1 and additional events running through August 24. Additionally, H20 Glow After Hours in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will begin on May 20 and run through September 1. Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guests can now make reservations for EPCOT and Typhoon Lagoon events. All other Guests will be able to make a reservation from March 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Since opening on May 27, 2022, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has only been available for Guests to experience using the Virtual Queue or Lightning Lane. With the TRON LightCycle Run opening soon, we expect Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind’s regular line to begin before April 4. Will March be the month we see this popular EPCOT attraction’s regular line open?

Reopening of Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been closed for refurbishment since January 9, 2023. The good news is that the Disney attraction will open to Guests on Friday, March 17, according to the Disney Parks website. Kali River Rapids will be open in line with the Disney Park hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Disney Fireworks

March is the last month to experience two nighttime spectaculars in the Walt Disney World Resort. April is set to see the return of Happily Ever After and EPCOT Forever to the Disney Parks. Therefore, if you are taking a Disney vacation in March, see the fireworks in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom before they leave the Walt Disney World Resort. 

In March, Disney Enchantment will be shown nightly in Magic Kingdom Park. Show time varies throughout the month, from 8:15 p.m. through to 9 p.m. Check the My Disney Experience App for show times when you visit the Disney Park. We recommend viewing Disney Enchantment from Main Street, U.S.A., to see the entire show, including the projections on the Main Street buildings.

Similarly, Harmonious will be shown nightly in EPCOT World Showcase. Take your place around World Showcase Lagoon, ready for showtime at 9 p.m. every evening.

Disney Springs Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, celebrating women’s vital role in American history. The Walt Disney Company will hold celebrations in Disney Springs, in honor of Celebrate HerStory, throughout March. The celebrations include:

  • Disney Encanto Familia Madrigal Blend at Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company. The blend will be available in the Joffrey’s store in The Landing. Guests can also add Princess Ripples to select beverages throughout March.
  • Women Pastry Chefs at Paddlefish
  • Her Hops Beer Flight at City Works Eatery & Pour House
  • Jenn Clark – Wondermade Co-Founder
  • Ashoka Pop at The Ganachery

St Patrick’s Day

Will you be celebrating St Patrick’s Day on March 17? Disney Springs will host fun and festivities in honor of this Irish celebration. You can expect Raglan Road Irish Pub to come alive. Celebrations will also likely be held in the Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom Pavilion in EPCOT World Showcase. You can also expect to find limited edition snacks available in honor of St Patrick’s Day around the Disney Parks.

Roundup Rodeo BBQ

The brand-new Disney restaurant will be opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 23. Complete your Toy Story Land experience by dining in a western-themed restaurant. You’ll feel as though you’re one of Andy’s toys when dining in Roundup Rodeo BBQ. Advance dining reservations are available now on the My Disney Experience App.
