When you think of ice cream in the Walt Disney World Resort, do you think of a Mickey Premium Bar or Ice Cream Sandwich immediately? While they are tasty Disney snacks, there are plenty of other excellent frozen treats to enjoy in Lake Buena Vista. Next time you’re looking for ice cream during a Disney vacation, stop by one of the following locations. While many are in a Disney park, some are located around the Walt Disney World Resort, so you may not need a Disney Park ticket to enjoy great ice cream.
Hollywood Scoops
Located on Sunset Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Hollywood Scoops serves a selection of hand-dipped ice cream and sundaes. Collect your order and find a bench on Sunset Boulevard. Enjoy your ice cream with a view of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It’s also an excellent place to stop and pick up a treat before entering the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater for Fantasmic!
Salt & Straw
Are you bored of the traditional ice cream flavors? You’ll enjoy trying a new flavor at Salt & Straw on the West Side in Disney Springs. Their selection includes classic and seasonal flavors and is available in various sizes.
L’Artisan des Glaces
One of our favorite places to get ice cream in the Walt Disney World Resort is the France Pavilion in EPCOT World Showcase. Throughout the day, L’Artisan des Glaces serves ice cream cones, macarons, sundaes, and the famous Croque Glace. While the line can be long, the delicious treats are worth the wait. We recommend the Croque Glace made with coconut-white chocolate ice cream and raspberry and chocolate sauce.
Anandapur Ice Cream Truck
When visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the best place to get ice cream is the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck in Asia. Order a soft-serve waffle cone, float, or Yeti Sundae, and enjoy your Disney snack with a stunning view of Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain or the Tree of Life across the Discovery River. A friendly warning, though – make sure you devour your soft-serve. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself wearing it!
Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop
You want to visit the Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop in the Marketplace at Disney Springs for specialty sundaes. Indulge in decadent sundaes made with house-made hot fudge and chocolate treats. Alternatively, sip on rich shakes and floats. We especially love to enjoy a Ghiradelli treat while watching the sunset over Lake Buena Vista. Collect your order and find a spot at the water’s edge for the perfect view.
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor
You’ll find the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at the top of Main Street, U.S.A., in Magic Kingdom Park. Choose from a selection of sundaes and hand-scooped ice cream flavors that are finished off with chocolate buttons to make the perfect Hidden Mickey. While the line may be long, the wait will be worth it. Your ice cream will taste even better with an excellent view of Cinderella Castle.
Swirls on the Water
Dole Whip is a popular Disney snack when taking a Disney vacation. You can get Dole Whip in the Walt Disney World Resort in many places. In the Disney Springs Marketplace, Swirls on the Water serves a variety of Dole Whip flavors. If you need help deciding which flavor to try, order the Dole Whip Sampler for $7.49. Dole Whip floats are also available at the Disney quick-service location to quench your thirst.
Gelateria Toscana
Another place to get tasty ice cream in EPCOT is the Italy Pavilion in World Showcase. Gelateria Toscana features a variety of traditional Gelato and Sorbet flavors. Additionally, you can order Gelati Creations and Gelati Floats, so there’s plenty of choice for all the family. It’s the perfect place to stop and cool off during the day. Alternatively, visit before securing your spot around World Showcase Lagoon for EPCOT Forever.
Marketplace Snacks
Do you prefer your ice cream with a waffle? Then, you’ll want to visit Marketplace Snacks in the Marketplace at Disney Springs. The Instagram-worthy treats served at the Disney quick-service location are inspired by favorite Disney characters. Which waffle sundae will you order – Goofy, Donald, Minnie, Mickey or Pluto?
Gelato Cart
When passing Grand Avenue in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, look for the Gelato Cart near Muppet*Vision 3D. Order a cup or a cone with your choice of Gelato. Will you choose a classic flavor or the flavor of the month? You never know what the flavor of the month will be. Recently, it was POG flavored.
Aloha Isle
When spending time in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, you’ll want to make a Dole Whip stop at Aloha Isle. A variety of flavors are served here in the form of floats or cups. We always order the pineapple and raspberry swirl cup when stopping by.
Vivoli il Gelato
If you need Gelato when visiting Disney Springs, visit Vivoli il Gelat at The Landing. A wide variety of flavors of Gelato and Sorbetto are available to order in a cup or cone. The family-run gelato shop originates from Florence, Italy, and has perfected its recipes over 85 years. You won’t be disappointed!
BoardWalk Ice Cream
Time spent on Disney’s BoardWalk offers the ideal time to enjoy an ice cream. BoardWalk Ice Cream is a cool ice cream parlor that features ice cream and sundaes to go. What will you enjoy while strolling along the shore of Crescent Lake?
Snack Shack
Visiting the Snack Shack is a must when spending the day at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park. The Disney snack location brings Hei Hei from Moana (2016) to life with an incredible Dole Whip creation. It’s definitely why we always fit in a day at the Disney water park during a visit to Walt Disney World.
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop
While all the dining locations mentioned so far are quick-service restaurants, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is the place to go if you want a full-service dining experience. As well as serving appetizers and entrees, the retro soda fountain serves a whole host of delicious frozen treats and desserts. Every day is sundae at Beaches & Cream! We won’t judge if you make an advance dining reservation so that you can enjoy dessert there. If you’re up for a challenge, order the Kitchen Sink! You can also order at the Beaches & Cream window if you can’t get a reservation or wish to eat outside the Disney restaurant.
