Quick Tips for Saving Room When Packing for Disney
I am the classic overpacker. It doesn’t matter how long our trip is or where we are going, I bring it all. Since I feel like I need to bring it all with me, I have also learned how to make it all fit. If you are wanting to stick to a carry-on when flying to Walt Disney World, I have a few tips and tricks for you.
These are just a few quick ways that you can make sure you are using every inch of space possible in that suitcase. Disney packing can be stressful, but hopefully, this packing list and suggestions will help.
Rolling is Key
I was always skeptical of this system, but it does seem to work. If you want to get more room out of your suitcase, consider rolling your items. Instead of laying your t-shirts and shorts on top of one another in a layered look, roll each item individually.
By rolling your clothes, you are able to fit more into the same area. This goes for if you are using packing cubes as well (another favorite of ours when it comes to packing). You are able to fit a lot more into one cube if you roll the items. You can easily squish them into those cubes.
Next time you are packing, try out the rolling method. You will be surprised at how much more you will be able to fit into your suitcase.
Ponchos vs Umbrellas
We all know you need to prepare for rain when heading to Walt Disney World. There are many options you can bring with you to help you continue to have fun in the Disney Parks when it starts to rain.
Umbrellas, ponchos, and raincoats are all excellent options. If you are wanting to save room when packing, lean towards ponchos. Umbrellas and rain jackets take up a lot of room in a suitcase and don’t squish very easily.
Ponchos are easy to toss into a suitcase or backpack taking up very little room, but will keep you dry when the rain comes up.
Do Laundry
Doing laundry while on vacation might not be ideal; however, it can really help when it comes to limited what you need to pack. By considering tossing a load of laundry in during your trip, you are able to pack half as much.
Laundry allows you to limit how many items such as socks, underwear, shorts, and t-shirts you need to bring. By making plans to do laundry while hanging at your Disney Resort pool, you will be able to really cut down on what you need to pack.
Have Items Delivered
Now more than ever before it is easy to have essential items delivered to your Walt Disney World Resort. A variety of companies such as Walmart, Instacart, Garden Grocery, and more are all able to deliver items to your Walt Disney World Resort.
This is an excellent way to save on space by not having to pack all the essentials. Have diapers and wipes delivered to the Disney Resort to save on space in your suitcase. Think about what essential items (like snacks) you could have delivered and avoid packing.
Wear Your Jacket
The items that take up the most room in your suitcase are those bigger, bulkier items. If you want to save room in your suitcase, consider wearing those at the airport.
Instead of packing your light jacket, toss it on and wear it through the airport. Wear the jeans, or leggings that you want to bring with you just in case it gets cooler.
By wearing these items through the airport, you will be able to save a lot of space in your suitcase.
Wear Your Shoes
Just like wearing your jacket and long pants will help save you room in your suitcase, so will wearing your tennis shoes. For those that need to have tennis shoes during their Disney vacation (which most of us should keep our feet happy), wearing them will save a lot of room in your suitcase.
Shoes take a big amount of space and are hard to pack around. By wearing them through the airport, you can clear up some room and keep your feet comfortable.
Use Your Shoes
If you do happen to need a couple of pairs of tennis shoes, make sure to utilize the space in the shoe. This might not seem amazing, but it does clear up a lot of room. Stuff some socks or underwear into your shoes. Doing this will free up some room and makes those shoes useful.
Use Disney Park Bag for Personal Item
When flying you typically can have one personal item that goes under the seat at your feet. Save room in your suitcase by using the bag you are going to use in the Disney Parks as your personal item.
Backpacks take up so much room so removing it from your suitcase can really open up a lot of space. Also, a lot of the essential items you will want access to on the plane are ones you will want in the Disney Parks. Having your Disney Park bag already partially packed can be super helpful.
Packing for Walt Disney World can be a lot of work. If you are wanting to limit how much you bring, use these tips to save space in your suitcase. These are easy ways to make room and cut down on all the extra you might not need. Look for more packing tips on How to Disney.
