Disney Rides We Always Skip (And Why You Might Too!)

Walt Disney World is filled with magic, wonder, and rides for everyone. While many of the attractions deliver unforgettable experiences, not every ride is a must-do for everyone. Whether due to motion sickness, long wait times, or simply personal preferences, there are certain attractions we tend to skip during our visits.

By sharing our list, we hope to help you make informed decisions on which rides to prioritize and which to skip during your Disney adventure.

Mission: SPACE – EPCOT

Mission: SPACE at EPCOT offers an intense simulated trip to space, complete with G-forces and tight quarters. The ride features two experiences: the more intense Orange Mission and the milder Green Mission. Unfortunately, even the Green Mission left us feeling queasy due to the motion simulation and confined space. If you’re prone to motion sickness, this might not be the ride for you. While some Guests enjoy the immersive storytelling, we’ve found that skipping Mission: SPACE helps us feel better for the rest of our day.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – EPCOT

This high-speed indoor coaster is a fan favorite, but the combination of spinning ride vehicles, large screens, and fast-paced action can be overwhelming for those prone to motion sickness. Even with motion sickness aids, this attraction leaves us feeling unsteady. While we appreciate the incredible music and theming, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has landed on our skip list for now.

Magic Carpets of Aladdin (Magic Kingdom) and TriceraTop Spin – Disney’s Animal Kingdom

These spinning rides are visually charming, but they don’t stand out compared to other similar attractions like Dumbo the Flying Elephant. With so many unique rides available, we often skip these and focus on other experiences. However, they can be fun for little ones or first-time visitors who enjoy spinning rides.

Na’vi River Journey – Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Na’vi River Journey is undeniably beautiful, with its bioluminescent forests and mesmerizing Shaman of Songs animatronic. However, we find the story lacking, and the slow pace combined with long wait times makes this ride less appealing. While it’s a must-see for first-timers and Avatar fans, we typically prioritize thrill rides like Expedition Everest or Kilimanjaro Safaris instead.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Star Wars fans will love the engaging storyline and familiar characters on this motion simulator ride. However, the jerky movements and 3D visuals can lead to headaches or motion sickness, so we often skip it in favor of other attractions in Galaxy’s Edge. Watching the Stormtroopers march through Batuu or exploring the Millennium Falcon is a better way for us to immerse ourselves in the Star Wars universe.

Kali River Rapids – Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While Kali River Rapids offers a fun and refreshing escape on a hot day, the soaking wet outcome isn’t something we enjoy. Walking around Disney’s Animal Kingdom in drenched clothes can be uncomfortable, so we typically avoid this water ride. If you’re visiting during the summer and don’t mind getting soaked, it can be a great way to cool down.

Alien Swirling Saucers – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

This spinning ride in Toy Story Land is cute and colorful, making it a great option for younger Guests. However, the sudden movements and lack of thrill make it less appealing to us as adults. We prefer to admire the lights and music from the sidelines while enjoying other attractions like Slinky Dog Dash or Toy Story Mania.

Journey Into Imagination with Figment – EPCOT

Figment is an iconic character at EPCOT, and this attraction offers a nostalgic journey into the power of imagination. However, with so many incredible rides in the park, Journey Into Imagination often takes a backseat. Attractions like Soarin’ Around the World, Test Track, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure are higher on our list of priorities.

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – Magic Kingdom

This classic attraction is undeniably charming, especially when lit up at night. However, with so many standout rides in Fantasyland, we usually skip the carousel in favor of Peter Pan’s Flight, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, or Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. The carousel remains a beautiful centerpiece for photos and a nostalgic ride for families with young children.

The bright, intricate canopy features regal designs and a painted scene of a knight and a lady, reminiscent of Disney rides to avoid for their overwhelming detail. The overall scene is vibrantly lit, showcasing the festive ambiance.
