UPDATE: Magic Kingdom No Longer Offers Free Souvenirs to Guests

Walt Disney World Resort has officially removed a popular free souvenir once offered to guests riding the Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom Park. This change marks the end of an era for the 53-year-old attraction.
In 2022, Magic Kingdom began offering “Safari Sacks” to guests in partnership with Ziploc. Around the same time, Ziploc sponsorship signs appeared near the ride, including a notable display on a trunk at the attraction’s exit.

The bags, practical for keeping small valuables safe while riding the Jungle Cruise, became a souvenir that many guests cherished despite the minimal chances of getting wet. Guests were encouraged to write their names and “departure dates” on the bags with a permanent marker.

The bags also featured plenty of humor, much like the ride itself. A printed message on the bags claimed they were “wild animal proof”—except for “baboons, butterflies, chimpanzees, cobras, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, gorillas, hippos, hyenas, impalas, lions, piranhas, pythons, rhinos, tigers, toucans, vultures, water buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and others.” The Ziploc bag proudly declared:
“The survival sack that does it all!
Now featuring the exclusive skipper zipper!
Holds everything imaginable, if you only imagine small things!
Mostly backside-of-water resistant!”
However, as the years passed, Disney Parks began phasing out similar free items. When Splash Mountain closed in 2023 to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Disney removed free plastic bags from the attraction. Guests were instead invited to purchase a themed wet bag featuring Princess and the Frog (2009) characters. It appears that Jungle Cruise is now following a similar path.

According to WDWNT, the Jungle Cruise no longer provides free “Safari Sacks” to guests. While the souvenir bags were popular, the transition to charging for themed wet bags seems to be the direction Disney is heading. Whether Walt Disney World Resort plans to sell Jungle Cruise-inspired wet bags remains unclear, and no official announcement regarding the new merchandise has been made.
