All of the Disney Parks Easter Eggs in ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’

Disney Parks and Lucasfilm fans have been buzzing about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the latest addition to the Star Wars universe on Disney+. The series follows a group of children who discover a hidden spaceship and embark on a galaxy-spanning adventure. While the show delivers plenty of new thrills, it also includes some subtle nods to Disney Park attractions, connecting the magic of the parks to a galaxy far, far away.

One of the most exciting Easter eggs is an RX droid, a character instantly recognizable to fans of the classic Star Tours attraction. In Skeleton Crew, an RX droid serves as the school bus driver for the young protagonists.

Disney Parks fans might remember RX-24, affectionately known as “Rex,” as the original pilot of Star Tours when it debuted at Disneyland Park in 1987. Over the years, Rex (voiced by Paul Reubens, also known as Pee-wee Herman) has found a new role as a DJ in Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The Easter eggs don’t stop with Star Tours. The second episode of Skeleton Crew introduces a fuzzy red alien with butterfly wings spotted in a bustling spaceport. This creature bears a striking resemblance to Fuzzball, the whimsical sidekick from Captain EO.

Captain EO, a groundbreaking 3D short film starring Michael Jackson, premiered at Disneyland Park and EPCOT in 1986. Fans of the film will instantly recognize the alien species, a subtle but meaningful tribute to Disney Parks’ history.

In one of the most unexpected Easter eggs, Skeleton Crew includes an auditory homage to Pirates of the Caribbean. During a tense prison scene in the second episode, viewers can hear a distinct whistling sound that Disney Parks fans might recognize from the classic attraction.

The sound is identical to the one heard in Pirates of the Caribbean’s iconic jail scene, where animatronic pirates whistle to coax a dog holding the key to their cell.
