Most of us would prefer to have a long week or more at Walt Disney World for our vacations. This isn’t always possible. Sometimes if we can sneak down for a quick weekend, we are happy to just be in the magic.

When taking short, quick trips to Walt Disney World, a few tips can help make these trips just as magical as the longer ones. It might take a bit of planning, but by using these eight tips, you will have a fantastic trip no matter how long it is.

8. Prioritize

It is important to have a must-do list before arriving for a short trip to Walt Disney World. Going into the Parks with a goal will help you maximize your time. Before you arrive, think about what you want to accomplish during your vacation.

Are there new attractions or snacks you want to make sure you experience? Do you have a favorite ride that you have to go on each and every trip? If that is the case, then make sure you those experiences are a priority. Do those early on in your vacation, so you don’t have to worry about missing out.

Having a must-do list when traveling to Walt Disney World is always a good idea, but having a list of priorities on shorter trips is even more critical.

Parking

7. Park Hopping or Not?

Before heading to Walt Disney World, consider using a Park Hopper, a good option for your traveling party. Park hoppers allow Guests to move between the four Disney Parks after 2 pm.

On a shorter trip, Park hopping can allow you to experience more than one Park per day. You can start the morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and end the evening with fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

The downside to Park hopping is that it takes time. You will need to plan transportation time between the Parks. Traveling between Parks might be easier if you have a large group or little ones. Consider how quickly your traveling party will move before purchasing a Park Hopper ticket.

Having this extra feature on your Park ticket can be a huge help during a quick tip if you plan accordingly.

6. Use Genie+ and Individual Lighting Lane

When heading to Walt Disney World for a short trip, consider investing in Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. These can help you save time in line. Genie+ can be used throughout the day at all four Parks making it a good investment even when Park hopping. With Genie+, you can book return times for numerous attractions throughout, skipping the long standby times.

If you plan to ride two big E-ticket attractions, consider purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes. Since these are the most popular rides in Walt Disney World, such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Avatar Flight of Passage, wait times are often around an hour. If you have limited time in the Parks, being able to experience these popular rides with a much lower wait can be critical to your vacation time.

5. Avoid Wandering

Since you have a limited time, you should make sure you make the most of it. Avoid wandering around the Parks. Use your list of priorities to keep yourself focused and moving throughout the day.

You don’t want to spend your time walking back and forth around Magic Kingdom. Instead, have a plan of attack to maximize your time in the Parks.

4. Skip Table Service Meals

We love many table service options throughout Walt Disney World, but during a short trip, we recommend skipping these. Table service meals can last an hour or more. This is time that you could be spending experiencing the Parks.

If you schedule too many table service meals during a short trip, you will miss a lot of Park time. Focus on your priorities to ensure you experience what is essential to you.

3. Prepare for Long Days

If you can only get to Walt Disney World for a few days, then be prepared for those days to be extended. You will probably be in the Parks from opening to close during those few precious days. Although this will be full of magic, it will also be extended.

Take time during the day to enjoy slower experiences, such as a show or a slightly calmer ride. Doing this will allow your body to reset and keep enjoying the fun.

2. Slow Down

This might seem contrary to what we have been saying, but it is also important. Make sure that you take time to enjoy the magic all around you. Even when you are rushing to get from ride to ride, enjoy the magic happening all around you.

Don’t forget to take a minute to enjoy the beauty of Cinderella Castle or walk around the Tree of Life. These moments are just as important to Disney magic as the rides are. Don’t miss out on them.

1. You Can’t Do It All

When heading down for a quick trip, make sure you get your mindset correct. Know that with a short trip, you won’t be able to see and do it all. Be okay with that. Use that priority list to focus on your goals; anything additional is magic.

Go into the short trip using these trips to have the most magical experience possible. Even the shortest trip to Walt Disney World is a beautiful experience.
