It doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day to enjoy a little romance in Walt Disney World. The Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect place to spend a date day or night, have a romantic getaway, celebrate an anniversary, get engaged, or even get married.
Let’s look at ten romantic things to do in Walt Disney World, some of which you may not know about. We’ve considered everything, from restaurants to photo spots and more.
A Romantic Dinner
The list of Disney restaurants is extensive. As such, it’s tough to pick the most romantic place to eat. Our choice for date night is California Grill, located at the top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Guests can enjoy signature dining at a more reasonable price than Victoria & Albert’s in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. We also love that you can begin or end your dinner with drinks in the bar area.
But there’s another reason California Grill is our choice for a romantic restaurant – fireworks! A Disney evening isn’t complete without fireworks. Guests dining in California Grill have access to the rooftop terrace. Retire between courses or after dinner, and enjoy a spectacular view over Magic Kingdom Park. The nighttime spectacular music is played, providing you with a magical experience.
A Romantic Photo Spot
There are many beautiful photo spots around the Walt Disney World Resort. Main Street, U.S.A, in Magic Kingdom, always comes to mind. But we love the pergolas you’ll find in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. However, the best one, in our opinion, is located on the lakeside path at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. It offers a perfect view of Disney Springs across the water. Pause hear any time of day and watch the Sassagoula River Boats cruise by.
A Romantic Resort
While there are twenty-two Disney Resort hotels in Walt Disney World, there is one that takes our title as the most romantic. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has romance written all over it. We recommend staying here if you’re looking for a romantic getaway. Everything about this Walt Disney World Resort hotel exudes elegance and sophistication. Relax by the pool, enjoy a drink in one of the bars, dine in one of the many restaurants, or enjoy being one stop away from Magic Kingdom Park.
Upgrade your stay by selecting a room with a fireworks view. Doesn’t a view of fireworks over Cinderella Castle from your Guest room balcony sound perfect?
A Romantic Bar
There are plenty of bars to enjoy a drink in throughout Walt Disney World. So how do you choose just one? We stumbled upon this bar during our last visit and instantly fell in love. Scat Cat’s Club Lounge in Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is a hidden gem. This full-service bar serves appetizers, craft beer, and Southern-inspired specialty cocktails. You can even get the famous Mickey Beignets here.
We recommend visiting Wednesdays through Sundays. Your experience will come with the addition of live jazz music performed by a talented band. You won’t be disappointed!
A Romantic Attraction
We couldn’t possibly narrow all of the Disney attractions down to one, but we’ve managed to select the most romantic attraction in each Disney Park.
Let’s start with Magic Kingdom! Of all of the rides in Magic Kingdom, the most romantic has to be The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. We especially love flying during the evening, when Adventureland has its low lighting, making you feel as though you’re flying over Agrabah. Sit together in the front or back, or take a row each to raise, lower, and tilt your carpet.
Over in EPCOT theme park, we think Soarin’ Around the World is the most romantic ride. Hold each other’s hand as you enjoy sights from around the world. Let’s not forget about the beautiful soundtrack too!
We love to take a romantic ride on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s made better if you happen to be front row in your car. There are parts of this ride where you feel like you are on a double date with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and we love that! It certainly adds to your romantic Disney experience!
Na’vi River Journey is our romantic attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The bioluminescent forest offers a stunning view, with the music building as you venture through the attraction. We especially love a front-row seat in the boats of the Na’vi River.
A Romantic Cruise
Don’t worry; we don’t mean Disney Cruise Line! However, it is possible to take a cruise at Walt Disney World. How does a private cruise sound? You can board the chartered boat with a captain, snacks, and soft drinks. Cruise around Crescent Lake, Bay Lake, or across Seven Seas Lagoon before stopping to watch Disney fireworks light up the sky. You will get the music as the nighttime spectacular soundtrack is played in your boat.
We recommend cruising from Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Your cruise will set sail for International Gateway at EPCOT, before taking position near World Showcase Lagoon. You’ll have a wonderful view of Harmonious.
A Romantic Relax
Are you hoping to escape reality for a little while? Treat yourself and your partner to an experience in The Grand Floridian Spa. A timeless haven of relaxation awaits as you step through the Victorian-style entrance. Choose from various indulgences, including body treatments, massages, and more.
A Romantic Evening
If you’re looking for a romantic evening, we recommend visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Secure an advance dining reservation in Kona Cafe or ‘Ohana for dinner. Arrive at the Disney Resort hotel ahead of your reservation time to enjoy a drink on Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace. After dinner, go to the beach area just in time to watch Disney Enchantment over Seven Seas Lagoon.
A Romantic Morning
Brunch is a great way to spend a romantic morning. There are plenty of Disney restaurants that offer brunch too. However, our recommendation is Ale & Compass in Disney’s Yacht Club. Dine in a cozy lighthouse and enjoy hearty dishes. Fill up with the breakfast buffet, which includes one choice of entree and coffee, tea, or a soft drink. You won’t be disappointed!
A Romantic Extra
Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Resorts are super romantic. Guests can enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride around the Resorts. Carriage rides take place during the evening and can be pre-booked at the Front Desk of your Resort hotel. If your Disney vacation coincides with Christmas, consider enjoying a Holiday Sleigh Ride at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground instead. Sleigh and carriage rides are perfect for a couple to spend a date night away from a Disney theme park.
We hope you’re inspired to add romance to your next Disney vacation! Which of these romantic things do you plan on doing? You’re in for an extra memorable Disney experience!
