Could This Be Disney World’s Most Dangerous Ride?
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has long been a favorite among Disney park enthusiasts for its thrilling attractions and tropical ambiance. It offers a variety of rides, from exhilarating slides to a massive wave pool that sets it apart from other water parks. Despite its popularity, the park has recently faced scrutiny regarding the safety of its attractions, specifically a “water coaster.”
Comparison with Other Walt Disney World Resort Rides
When comparing Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon to other Walt Disney World Resort rides, it becomes clear that water attractions can pose unique challenges. Rides in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park or EPCOT might offer risks related to mechanical failures or height restrictions, while water rides often bring dangers associated with drowning and collisions in turbulent waves. The combination of high speeds and sharp turns in water rides amplifies the concerns regarding rider safety.
Recent Incidents Raising Concerns
A series of recent injuries reported at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon have raised questions about safety protocols. One Walt Disney World Resort guest sued after obtaining severe internal injuries on the Humunga Kowabunga water slide. Another guest filed a lawsuit after the ride allegedly knocked her unconscious.
Crush’ N’ Gusher Concerns
TikTok user @disneyworldtoday recently raised concerns about another water slide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, the Crush’ N’ Gusher.
@disneyworldtoday I thought I broke my femur on this ride #disney #disneyworld #storytime #pov #disneyland #beach #surf #danger #caution #wow #podcast #family #dads #vacation
The Disney Resort guest said he “thought [he] was going to die” when his family’s float tipped over on the water coaster. He suffered a concussion and, in the chaos, his father lost his swimsuit.
“There probably should be a weight limit,” the TikToker said. “… I’m actually surprised that we don’t hear more about this.”
Many Disney Parks fans agreed with his assessment that Crush’ N’ Gusher is the “most dangerous ride” at Walt Disney World Resort.
“I love this ride, but you’re probably right that it’s the most dangerous,” one user commented.
Understanding the Ride’s Mechanics
Description of the Ride’s Features
The ride at the center of the controversy offers high-speed thrills, steep drops, and unexpected turns, all features that are typically thrilling for daring guests. However, the intense nature of these rides can lead to unforeseen problems if loaded with too many riders at once, or if the current in the pool turns unexpectedly strong. Riders may find themselves facing difficult conditions, especially in high waves or while navigating through tight turns.
Safety Measures in Place
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has implemented several safety measures that are designed to keep guests safe while enjoying their experience. Lifeguards are stationed throughout the park, equipped to address emergencies swiftly.
Riders are given clear instructions about how to navigate the rides safely. All guests should thoroughly read attraction descriptions and health warnings before boarding any Walt Disney World Resort attraction.
