Paying for a Disney Monorail Ride? How Much It’ll Cost Later This Year

The Tokyo Disney Resort Monorail system will begin using a new ticketing method for guests in the summer of 2025.

Tokyo Disney Resort has announced that beginning July 28, 2025, it will distribute single tickets and day passes with QR codes on the back. This new system will allow guests to easily scan and use QR codes when entering and exiting the Monorail stations. By 2026, the Disney Resort Line will exclusively use QR code tickets, although guests will still be able to use prepaid IC cards.

In a video shared on YouTube, Tokyo Disney Resort explained the new system in detail, showing guests how to scan and use their QR code tickets. Guests will need to tap the QR code when they enter and leave any Monorail station, a simple process designed to streamline their travel experience throughout the resort.

The Disney Resort Line is a convenient way for guests to get around Tokyo Disney Resort. It operates on a short loop with stops at the Resort Gateway, Tokyo Disneyland, Bayside, and Tokyo DisneySea. The Monorail is known for its colorful fleet of C trains, with five different Monorail trains operating: Monorail Yellow, Monorail Pink, Monorail Blue, Monorail Purple, and Monorail Green. The line also connects to the East Japan Railway Company’s Maihama Station, accessible via the Keiyō Line from Tokyo and the Musashino Line from Fuchūhommachi.

Operated by Maihama Resort Line Company, Ltd., a subsidiary of The Oriental Land Company, the Disney Resort Line is one of the most popular methods for getting to and from Tokyo Disney Resort. Unlike the monorail systems at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, guests at Tokyo Disney Resort must pay to use the Monorail. A single ticket costs ¥300 (approximately $2 at the time of this article’s publication), with children’s tickets available for ¥150 (roughly $1). Guests can also purchase day and multi-day passes starting at ¥700 (under $5) for adults and ¥350 (under $2.50) for children.
