DON’T Uber to Magic Kingdom! Here’s Why

Traveling around the Walt Disney World Resort is easy. There are multiple modes of Disney transport that Guests can use. Additionally, they are complimentary to any Guest. So, you don’t need to be a Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guest to use the Disney Monorail, Disney Skyliner, FriendShip Boats, Sassagoula River Boats and Disney Buses.

However, using Disney transport can be overwhelming, especially when using it for the first time. Similarly, there may be more efficient ways to navigate Lake Buena Vista, especially if you are running short on time. Additionally, Disney transportation is only available between the Disney Parks, Resort hotels, water parks, and Disney Springs. Therefore, if you want to travel from anywhere else, you must consider using other transportation.

Using a car is a reliable way of getting around the Walt Disney World Resort. But only if you have access to one. Doing so is possible whether you drive to Lake Buena Vista for your Disney vacation or rent a car in Orlando. As a Disney Resort hotel Guest, using a car won’t cost you any more money during your Disney trip. Guests can park in the Walt Disney World Resort hotel car parks for free. Additionally, you can enjoy free parking at each Disney theme park rather than using Disney transport if you wish to drive.

However, if you cannot access a car during your Disney vacation, you must rely on public transport, such as the Lynx buses. Otherwise, you can use ride-share.

Ride Share

Generally, Uber and Lyft are the most popular ride-share options to use around the Walt Disney World Resort. You can also use a Minnie Van to travel around Lake Buena Vista as part of Lyft. However, the use of a Minnie Van can be exceptionally pricey.

Using Uber or Lyft can help reduce travel time between the Disney Parks and Resort hotels. While the Disney buses are helpful, you may need to wait a while before the next bus arrives if you have just missed the previous one. Similarly, busy times of the day can also increase your wait at the bus station due to long lines for the buses. At these times, you may consider a ride share.

Once you have the Uber or Lyft apps, you enter your destination and the location you are traveling from. Drivers who are available to give you a lift are then shown. At this time, you confirm your ride. Before your driver arrives, you’ll receive updates on their whereabouts so you know when to expect them. Generally, Uber or Lyft drivers can access all Walt Disney World Resort areas.

You can expect to be dropped near Cirque Du Soleil on West Side if you travel to Disney Springs. You will be dropped off at the main entrance of any Disney hotel after passing through security. Each Disney Park has a designated drop-off point. Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom ride share drop-off points close to the Disney Park’s main entrance. At EPCOT, Guests can be dropped off in the main car park or bus station. However, the Magic Kingdom drop-off point isn’t located close to the Disney Park entrance.

Transportation and Ticket Center at Magic Kingdom

Disney Resort hotel Guests using the Disney Monorail, watercraft, or buses are taken straight to the entrance of Magic Kingdom Park. Meanwhile, Guests using their own car, public transport, and ride shares pass through the Transportation and Ticket Center first. From the Transportation and Ticket Center, Guests can use the Magic Kingdom Ferryboat or the Disney Monorail to get to the entrance of Magic Kingdom Park.

While it’s great to use these modes of Disney transport, passing through the Transportation and Ticket Center can prolong the time it takes for you to get to Magic Kingdom Park. However, there is a more efficient way of entering and exiting the Disney Park when using ride share.

The Best way to get to Magic Kingdom using a Ride Share

Three Disney hotels are classed as a Magic Kingdom Resort hotel. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort are places to consider as your destination when using a ride share to get to Magic Kingdom Park.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is our first choice of Disney hotel to be dropped off at when traveling to Magic Kingdom Park. Upon arrival, you can use the walkway to Magic Kingdom, allowing you to arrive at the Disney Park within 10 minutes. You will pass through a small security and bag checkpoint that will enable you to proceed straight to the ticket gates at Magic Kingdom Park.

If you were still hoping to have the opportunity to ride the Disney Monorail, then you may wish to consider getting dropped off at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. While your journey to Magic Kingdom Park may be a little longer, you can see inside the beautiful Disney hotel while going to the Disney Monorail station on the second floor. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is one Disney Monorail stop away from Magic Kingdom Park.

So, next time you’re using a ride share to travel to Magic Kingdom Park, remember to set your destination as Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. You’ll be thankful for the short journey to the Disney Park compared to passing through the Transportation and Ticket Center. Remember to pick up your ride share from these locations too. Doing so will avoid you having to travel to the Transporation and Ticket Center at the end of your Disney day.
