Traveling to Magic Kingdom Park allows Guests to use four modes of Disney transport. These include the Disney Buses, Disney Monorail, Disney watercraft, and the Disney Ferryboat. The method you use to travel to the Disney Park depends on where you are traveling from to get to Magic Kingdom Park.

Transportation and Ticket Center

The Transportation and Ticket Center is part of the Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World Resort. It is where Guests park their car if they are using it to travel around Lake Buena Vista. After parking your car at the Magic Kingdom parking lot, the Walt Disney World Tram is available to save you from walking to the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Only Disney Resort hotel Guests who use Disney transportation are taken directly to the Magic Kingdom entrance. Meanwhile, Guests traveling to the Magic Kingdom theme park using other modes of transport, in addition to using their own car, will pass through the Transportation and Ticket Center. Different modes of transport include:

  • ride shares, such as Uber or Lyft
  • taxi
  • shuttles from non-Disney hotels, including Disney Partner hotels
  • charter buses
  • Lynx public transport

Similarly, Guests of the Magic Kingdom Resort hotels and those wishing to Park Hop to EPCOT from Magic Kingdom Park also visit the Transportation and Ticket Center to board the EPCOT Monorail.

Guests can purchase Disney Park tickets at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Doing so allows you to proceed straight to the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park once you reach the Disney Park entrance. There is also a small Joffrey’s refreshment station. Here, you can order a selection of hot and cold beverages and fresh pastries and snacks. Additionally, you’ll find restrooms, an ATM, and a small gift store for last-minute souvenirs at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

A benefit of passing through the Transportation and Ticket Center is clearing bag checks and security before arriving at the entrance of Magic Kingdom. Therefore, you can proceed straight to the ticket entrance upon arrival at Magic Kingdom Park.

Traveling to Magic Kingdom

To travel between the Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center, Guests can take three modes of transport. Despite there being three modes of transport, two are preferred by Guests.

The less common way to travel between Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center is walking. Guests generally avoid doing so due to the Florida weather. We recommend avoiding walking in the hottest parts of the day and when it’s raining. However, it’s a pleasant walk during winter when the temperature is cooler. Follow the path to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to walk between Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Meanwhile, one preferred method among Guests to travel between Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center is the Ferryboat. The Disney Ferryboat transports Guests across Seven Seas Lagoon. Time your arrival at the dock right, and you can walk straight onto the Ferryboat. However, you may have a short wait for the next boat if you arrive as the Ferryboat is leaving the port.

The Disney Monorail is another preferred way for Guests to travel between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom Park. While two Disney Monorail lines service the Magic Kingdom Park, the Express Monorail is generally the line Guests board. From the Transportation and Ticket Center, the Express Monorail travels anticlockwise around Seven Seas Lagoon, passing through Disney’s Contemporary Resort. After leaving Magic Kingdom Park, the Express Monorail passes Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort on the way to the Transportation and Ticket Center.

How to avoid Long Lines

Unfortunately, the Disney Monorail and the Disney Ferryboat can attract long lines. In particular, you can expect a lengthy wait to use both modes of Disney transport at Park Open and Park Close. However, there is a way to cut the time you wait in line at these busy times. As mentioned before, the Disney Monorail has two lines that service Magic Kingdom Park. While the Express Monorail is the quickest way to travel between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom Park, the Resort Monorail also stops at both locations.

The Resort Monorail line travels clockwise around Seven Seas Lagoon. There are five stops on the Resort Monorail line:

  • Magic Kingdom Park
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Transportation and Ticket Center
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

To access the Resort Monorail line at the Transportation and Ticket Center, stay left, and enter the Disney Monorail station entrance closest to the Disney Ferryboat dock. Meanwhile, you’ll want to keep left as you approach the Monorail station after exiting the Magic Kingdom theme park. Enter the Disney Monorail station toward the Disney hotel launches. After exiting Magic Kingdom at Park Close, you may still have to wait to board the Disney Monorail. However, the line will be shorter than the Express Monorail. In addition to using the Disney Monorail, many Magic Kingdom Resort Guests can walk to their hotel or use the Disney watercraft.

Make sure to use this trick during your next Disney vacation. It’s sure to enhance your Disney experience without the need to use Disney Genie+ or have a Lightning Lane reservation. You’ll be at the Transportation and Ticket Center at the end of the day in no time!
