Test Track, one of EPCOT’s signature attractions, has been under construction since June 2024, prompting excitement and speculation among Disney fans. Originally designed as a thrilling ride where guests could experience a high-speed vehicle test, the attraction has been closed for nearly a year as Disney embarks on a comprehensive redesign. Initially, plans indicated that Test Track would reopen in late summer 2025; however, recent updates on the official Walt Disney World website have removed any reference to this timeframe, now indicating a reopening in 2025 without a specified season. This change has left fans anxious and curious about the reasons behind the delays.
The significance of Test Track within EPCOT cannot be overstated. It serves as an essential element of the park, offering guests a unique combination of creativity and speed, highlighting themes of innovation and automotive design. As one of the few thrill rides in EPCOT, Test Track holds a unique spot in the hearts of park-goers, making its return highly anticipated.

Disney is promising a revitalized Test Track experience, featuring a variety of new attractions and enhancements. The upcoming version of the ride is set to include brand-new show scenes that will immerse guests even deeper into the world of vehicle testing. Interactive elements will play a pivotal role in the reimagining, allowing visitors to engage more fully with the ride, making each experience unique.
A particularly noteworthy aspect of the redevelopment is the continued partnership with General Motors, which has been a part of Test Track’s journey from the very beginning. This collaboration reassures fans that the core theme of automotive testing and design will remain intact, while introducing exciting new elements that align with modern expectations for amusement parks.
Test Track’s history is marked by a series of significant design changes that have drawn varied reactions from the fanbase. Originally debuting in 1999, the attraction featured an industrial theme showcasing the car testing process in a more traditional manner.
However, in 2012, Disney decided to remodel Test Track, giving birth to “Test Track 2.0.” This iteration introduced sleek, modern design elements, inspired by both technology and Disney’s futuristic storytelling.
While many guests enjoyed the fresh aesthetic, the switch was met with some backlash. Longtime fans of the original design expressed nostalgia for the original ride, desiring the authenticity of the earlier experience over the more polished look of its successor. The duality of opinions among fans reflects the challenge Disney faces in balancing innovation with beloved traditions.
As EPCOT continues to evolve, several new dining and entertainment experiences are set to launch alongside the redesign of Test Track. Notably, two new bars are in the pipeline, one of which is called GEO-82. This exclusive venue will cater to guests 21 and older, offering inventive cocktails and small bites, reflecting a growing trend of upscale dining options within the park.
The introduction of GEO-82 and similar venues speaks to EPCOT’s commitment to enhancing its culinary offerings, contributing to a richer visitor experience. These developments not only elevate the dining landscape of EPCOT but also open up more avenues for guests to enjoy the park’s multiple facets.
