Take Advantage of the Top Rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone a complete update over the last few years.  With the addition of both Toy Story Land as well as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this once half-day Park now has Guests returning multiple times during their Walt Disney World vacation.

If you haven’t been to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in a while, we have the rides you won’t want to miss during your Walt Disney World vacation.  We are going to break down these rides from skip to not to miss in order to help you plan your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Skip:  Alien Swirling Saucers- Toy Story Land

We are sorry to say that this is one ride that we skip almost every time we visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Located over in Toy Story Land, this family-friendly ride comes in as our least favorite ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

With a 32″ height requirement, not all family members can ride swirling adventures. Guests are taken on saucers through a spin through space with the beloved aliens from Toy Story. Space cadets will find themselves laughing as they whirl around. This ride is fine but isn’t overly exciting and not worth a long wait, in our opinion.

Skip (Motion Sickness):  Star Tours The Adventure Continues:  Echo Lake

This ride is one that we tend to skip because of the motion sickness issues it causes.  The original Star Wars ride in Walt Disney World, and this action-packed simulator takes Guests on a 3D space flight to many of the legendary destinations visited throughout the Star Wars saga.

Star Tours has a 40″ height requirement and, as a flight simulator, can cause motion sickness for some. We like the concept of this ride and enjoy seeing the different scenes from the movies, but we feel like some parts could use some updating.

If There’s Time:  Millennium Falcon:  Smugglers Run: Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

We understand that this ride made dreams come true for Disney fans as Guests are able to pilot the Millennium Falcon just like in the movies.  Although the overall concept of this ride is fantastic, and seeing the Millennium Falcon is breathtaking, the overall ride seems lacking to us.

It is hard to know exactly what you are supposed to do on the mission and therefore the fun of the ride can be lost.  A lot like Star Tours, this ride can cause motion sickness for Guests, especially if in the pilot role.

We have nothing really against this ride; however, we would rather spend our time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios riding some of the other top attractions.

Fun For All:  Toy Story Mania: Toy Story  Land

A ride that the whole family can enjoy together, Toy Story Mania is a fantastic 4D shooting game that allows Guests to compete against one another. We love the queue of this ride, so Guests should take time to check out Mr. Potato Head and a variety of toys from Andy’s toy chest.

Guests then board their ride vehicle before working through five different games. This is so much fun for the entire family as it is fun to see the outstanding design of the game and the fun completion it brings to the vacation as well.

Thrill Seekers:  Rock n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith- Sunset Boulevard

Down Sunset Boulevard Guests that are looking for thrills love the high-speed coaster that is Rock ‘n Roller Coaster.  Guests board a stretch limousine before getting launched into the streets of LA as they zip and zoom their way to the concert. With three thrilling inversions- 2 rollover loops and one corkscrew- this is one of the most thrilling rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We love the launch and the rocking music that blasts throughout the ride.

This is one ride that we make sure we experience each time we visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  It provides a great experience and lots of screams that many Guests don’t expect in a Disney Park.  Get ready to rock on this one!

Thrill Seekers:  Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: Sunset Boulevard

Right next door to Rock ‘n Roller Coaster is another outstanding thrill ride that we make sure to enjoy each and every trip.  The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror allows Guests to step into the abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel, where they board a service elevator. Hang on tight as unexpected drops and rising are sure to get your screams going.

The theming and details of this ride are fantastic. Take time to check out the hotel grounds and lobby as they help set the stage for the ride itself. We love that each trip into the twilight zone is different!

Truly Magical:  Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway- Hollywood Boulevard

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a fantastic ride for the whole family.  The first ride in Walt Disney World to feature Mickey Mouse, this new family-friendly attraction, takes Guests into a cartoon filled with surprises. With a trackless ride system, it is hard to tell where your train is going.

Unexpected twists, slapstick gags, and amazing transformations keep Guests in awe the whole ride. We love the details and overall ride experience that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway brings for the entire family. It is a ride that Guests will want to ride more than once to take in all the unique details and special effects they might not catch the first time around.

Full of Laughs:  Slinky Dog Dash- Toy Story Land

Back in Andy’s backyard Guests can enjoy a fun, family-friendly coaster with Slinky Dog Dash.  Guests rush around Andy’s backyard with surprises around every corner that even include a few thrills that Guests might not expect on a kid coaster.

Be ready as Slinky Dog’s springs coil and stretch making the hills, curves, and drops so much fun.  We absolutely love this ride and make sure we experience it each trip.  The views and excitement is not to be missed.

NOT TO MISS:  Rise of the Resistance: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

It probably isn’t a surprise to anyone that knows about Disney’s Hollywood Studios that we have placed Rise of the Resistance as the number one ride in the theme Park. In reality, this outstanding attraction is the best ride in all of Walt Disney World.

This exceptional ride takes Guests into the story as we have never experienced before on an attraction. Help the Resistance gather recruits for a secret mission, but watch out as the First Order is always watching. This is a thrilling, one-of-a-kind adventure that all Guests should try to experience at least once during their Disney World vacation. From the outstanding storyline to the amazing details and animatronics, this ride has it all.

That is our breakdown of the rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  We are thrilled with the updates and new experiences that Disney has brought to this Park.  What are you looking forward to riding during your next trip?
