Spider-Man Is Real — Man Climbs One of the World’s Tallest Buildings
From his first swing across the pages of the comics to massive MCU blockbusters, Spider-Man has always represented a mix of agility, daring, and everyday heroism.
The franchise has reinvented itself countless times: animated series, live-action adaptations, and major Hollywood blockbusters iterations starring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland.

But fans are now seeing that spirit brought to life here in the real world.
Alex Honnold, famed for his “free solo” ascents, scaled Taipei 101 on January 25 without any safety equipment during Netflix’s Skyscraper Live, earning the moniker “real-life Spider-Man.” Wearing a red outfit reminiscent of his comic-book counterpart, he climbed 101 stories unaided, demonstrating balance, strength, and focus that rival the fictional wall-crawler himself.
The event, streamed worldwide, pushed Honnold to the edge. Wind gusts, slick surfaces, and the exposure of a live broadcast created conditions far more intense than even the toughest climbing challenges. At the summit, his exhilarated exclamation—“Sick!”—captured the raw mix of triumph and relief. Watch his best moments from Netflix below:

Later this year, fans will be able to see Spider-Man himself on the big screen again.
Set to release on July 31, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day marks Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing in the MCU. The cast also includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, plus Sadie Sink, Liza Colón‑Zayas, and Tramell Tillman in undisclosed roles.
Tom Holland has also played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in multiple MCU films beyond his solo outings. After first appearing in Captain America: Civil War (2016), he reprised his role in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), contributing to major crossover events and expanding Spider-Man’s role in the wider Marvel universe.
Will the new film be as nail-biting as Honnold’s recent wall-crawling adventure? Unlikely.
