Universal Orlando has confirmed that four of its popular attractions will be closed for some period of time in 2024. Here’s what you need to know.

Any theme park fan is well aware that closures are a part and parcel of a park experience. Whether it’s temporary or permanent (even with Disney attractions like Splash Mountain), rides often have to close for maintenance and refurbishment.

However, the Walt Disney World Resort isn’t Orlando’s only theme park, Disney rival Universal Orlando gives the Mouse House a run for its money. Here are four attraction closures from Universal in 2024.

The Nighttime Lights At Hogwarts Castle

As it currently stands, The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle has been closed indefinitely. While Universal has not provided any reasons for the closure, and it reopened briefly for the holiday season, the regular show has remained closed all this time.

It’s unclear when the attraction will make its return. As Universal fans know, the lights illuminated the iconic Hogwarts Castle in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show was temporarily closed last week from January 16 to January 18, 2024, for some routine and standard maintenance. The show gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of Hollywood special effects makeup.

As of the writing of this article, the attraction is open to guests once again.

Jurassic Park River Adventure

Through February 1, 2024, Jurassic Park River Adventure will be shutting shop for a maintenance check and refurbishment to ensure that the safety standards of the ride are being met. The attraction is one that is beloved at Universal Studios Florida for its immersive environment, complete with life-sized dinosaurs and breathtaking scenery.

Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges

Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges will be closed from February 2 to March 15, 2024. The attraction will undergo extensive maintenance and refurbishment during this time. Guests can expect to see water effects, theming, and overall guest experience enhanced when the ride reopens in the spring.
