Planning a Trip to Disney is Hard

No matter how much we love Disney, many of us share the opinion that planning a trip to Walt Disney World right now is hard.  Even though we never were ones that just showed up at Disney, we feel that a plan is even more essential than ever before.

The amount of decisions that Guests have to make before they even arrive at Disney is large. From choosing which Disney Resort they want to stay at, where they want to eat, what Disney Parks they want to visit each day, and then if they want to include any upgrades such as Genie+.

Even Disney diehards that are well versed in these decisions are starting to find them to be a lot.  For those that aren’t familiar with Disney and are planning their first trip, these decisions can seem extremely hard.

With so much changing, it can be hard for Guests to keep up with the newest and most up-to-date information. Although we know that Disney is making these steps to help our overall Theme Park experience, we feel like it can be too much for some Guests turning them away from a magical trip.

If you are in agreement with these Disney diehards that planning a trip to Disney is hard right now, we highly recommend using How to Disney to help guide you.  We have lots of posts to help with these decisions.

Disney Is Expensive

There is no argument here.  A vacation to Walt Disney World isn’t cheap.  Disney diehards are starting to notice that each trip to Walt Disney World seems to be more and more expensive.

We have always been prepared for the rising cost of Park tickets, food, and Resort rooms; however, it seems like now Disney is starting to charge for experiences that used to be free.

Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes are big examples of this.  Guests used to be able to have access to the shorter lines for free.  Now, this experience costs $15/person/day for Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes are an additional fee.

We are super Disney fans and we love going down and experiencing the magic, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t aware that the cost is becoming a lot.

Too Much Tech Time

We used to head to Walt Disney World and were able to put the phones away and enjoy the moment.  With the importance of My Disney Experience, this is no longer an option.

Disney diehards enjoy that My Disney Experience gives to access to everything they need for a successful trip.  What they don’t like is how much they have to be on it each hour of the vacation.

As Disney relies more and more on technology, Guests are less and less able to put their technology away and disconnect.  It seems like for a Park that’s sole purpose was to bring families together, the focus on technology is having the opposite impact.

Mad Tea Party

I Skip This…

It might be surprising to find out that even Disney diehards have rides and experiences that they skip during their Walt Disney World vacation.  Each Disney fan has their favorite foods, rides, shows, and Resorts.

The same goes for their least favorite.  Not every show, ride, and Resort is made for every Disney Guest. This is why Disney has so much to offer.  Disney provides a variety of experiences to all Guests old and young can find something they will enjoy.

We Like Universal

Just because someone is a huge Disney fan doesn’t mean they can’t be a huge Universal fan as well.  Even though there are a lot of differences between these two Orlando Theme Parks, they both provide great entertainment.

If you haven’t experienced Universal Studios, it is a lot of fun and a great vacation option. The Universal resorts are also some of the best we have stayed at while in Orlando. The smaller size of Universal Studios makes it a lot easier to visit in a few days and go back and forth to your Resort for those afternoon breaks. Even though it might not seem okay at first, you can like both Disney and Universal.

Potter vs Vader

Just like how some diehard Disney fans enjoy Universal, some even might say that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is better than Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  Depending on your movie love, you might enjoy the themed lands at Universal over Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

With two specific lands, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter does offer more entertainment for Guests.  There are more rides, more shows, more stores, and overall more themed areas to explore.

It might be surprising that even diehard Disney fans have some interesting opinions about their favorite place.  Even though there is something for all of us to love, there are also experiences and things we might not enjoy as much.  That is why we are glad Disney is constantly working to improve.
