Disney has confirmed a major entertainment scheduling detail ahead of the 2026 holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort, and it will impact guests hoping to experience one of Magic Kingdom’s newest nighttime offerings.
Magic Kingdom continues to attract millions of visitors every year, thanks to its collection of attractions, entertainment, and iconic experiences. During the holiday season, however, the park takes on an entirely different atmosphere. Seasonal décor fills Main Street, U.S.A., Cinderella Castle sparkles with festive enhancements, and special entertainment offerings transform the park into a holiday destination unlike any other.
As anticipation builds for this year’s celebrations, Disney has revealed that Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will not be performed on nights when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place. According to Walt Disney World, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will once again be removed from the evening entertainment lineup during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates.
The decision mirrors the strategy Disney used during previous seasonal events, including last year’s Halloween and Christmas celebrations. While some guests may be disappointed to miss the nighttime parade during certain evenings, the move allows the separately ticketed holiday event to remain the primary focus after dark.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party requires a separate admission ticket beyond standard park entry, with prices typically ranging from just over $100 to more than $200 depending on the date selected.
One of the event’s signature offerings is Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade. Featuring holiday-themed floats, Disney characters in seasonal costumes, and festive entertainment throughout Main Street, U.S.A., the parade has long been considered one of the highlights of the party.
Without Disney Starlight competing for attention during the same evening, guests can focus entirely on the Christmas-specific entertainment lineup. The result is a holiday experience built around exclusive offerings that are only available during the event.
The scheduling change does not mean Disney Starlight is disappearing during the holiday season. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away first premiered on July 20, 2025, and has become a regular part of Magic Kingdom’s nighttime entertainment roster. The parade typically performs twice nightly on most operating days.
Disney has indicated that the nighttime spectacular will continue to operate on non-party evenings throughout the fall and holiday season, giving guests numerous opportunities to experience the parade outside of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates.
Walt Disney World’s official holiday celebration period will run from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027. However, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will begin even earlier, with the first event scheduled for November 8, 2026. That gives guests several opportunities to attend the party before the broader holiday festivities begin across the resort.
As in previous years, party dates will be spread across select nights through December. Disney’s holiday parties have historically sold out well in advance, making early ticket purchases a priority for guests hoping to attend.
The entertainment schedule reflects Disney’s long-standing approach to seasonal events. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is designed as a dedicated holiday experience featuring exclusive entertainment, character appearances, complimentary cookies and hot cocoa, seasonal stage productions, and a holiday-themed fireworks spectacular.
Rather than adding Disney Starlight to the lineup, Disney appears focused on giving the Christmas party’s offerings room to take center stage.
