Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean Change Is Now in Place, Frustrating Fans Beyond Words

Disney’s latest change to Pirates of the Caribbean at its Southern California resort has many fans up in arms in frustration at The Walt Disney Company.

The Disney Parks are beloved by fans all over the world for the entertainment and unique Disney experience they provide to fans and guests who visit the parks.

From dark rides like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom Park in the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park in the Disneyland Resort to lands like Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park, there’s a lot to love.

Disney Announces a Change to Pirates of the Caribbean, But Fans Are Unimpressed

On December 30, theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared that Disneyland was going to add the Pirates of the Caribbean ride to Genie+ temporarily.

The Genie+ addition of Pirates of the Caribbean began on January 22, 2024 while nearby attractions undergo refurbishment.

While Disney was careful to clarify this was a temporary change, fans were a bit uncertain that they trusted Disney’s word. Many were incredibly unhappy and frustrated at the turn of events.

One commented, “They’re going to ruin the best people eating line in the park. Just another ride that has to be planned instead of walking up and enjoying at any time.”

Another also shared, “LOL. Because they need to show value in G+. LOL. While they can use this excuse to test it again on Pirates after it failed the first time.”

A third opined, “’ Temporarily’ until they decide to make it permanent.”

One fan even went so far as to question Disney’s process, writing, “Get ready for twice as big a line. What was Disney even thinking?”

Considering Disney’s recent moves to focus on profits and maximizing its potential to increase net income, many fans now feel the Disney theme park experience has become less about quality and more about filling Disney’s coffers.

In addition, going to a Disney Park now requires a lot more preparation and research, leaving many fans constantly on their phones instead of enjoying their time at the Disney Resort.

For all of these reasons, fans are not particularly thrilled about the ride.

However, it does remain to be seen whether Disney is actually going to make the change temporary or find that it’s profitable enough to retain as a permanent fixture of the Disneyland experience.
