Opening Dates Disney Still Hasn’t Announced
Even though there are a lot of new experiences opening in Walt Disney World lately, there are still some highly anticipated ones we still haven’t been given an opening timeline for from Disney.
We know that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be opening to Guests over Memorial Day Weekend; however, besides this date, we haven’t heard much else from Disney.
Let’s take a look at some of the experiences we are still waiting on an opening date from Disney.
Tron Lightcycle Run
Guests have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this new coaster in Magic Kingdom. We have watched as progress has been made over the last few years. Testing has even been taking place, but we still haven’t heard from Disney on an anticipated opening date.
This coaster is one that Disney had hoped would be opened for the 50th Anniversary celebration, but we are now months removed from October and we are still waiting.
We can’t wait to experience this coaster and we hope that it will still be in 2022 that we get to do so.
Moana Journey of Water
Even though we have seen great progress in EPCOT lately, there are still a few experiences we are waiting on.
As we mentioned earlier, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be opening over Memorial Day weekend. We have already seen Connections Cafe & Eatery become a huge hit as well.
One experience we are watching from the monorail is the Moana Journey of Water walk through attraction. We haven’t actually been told a lot about this attraction from Disney.
We know that there will be interactive water features, but otherwise, we will just have to wait and see. Construction seems to be going well so we hope that Disney will be making an announcement soon.
Play! Pavilion
Another experience in EPCOT that we are waiting to hear more about is the Play! Pavilion. This interactive Pavilion was announced back in 2019, but we haven’t been given much information since.
In this pavilion, beloved Disney characters are supposed to come to life in a semi-virtual environment that blends both reality and virtual reality.
We think this will be a great experience for families and look forward to hearing when Disney thinks Guests will be able to start enjoying it during their Disney vacations.
Spaceship Earth
Another unknown in EPCOT revolves around the beloved Spaceship Earth. Prior to the shutdown, it was announced by Disney that Spaceship Earth would undergo a major refurbishment.
Since reopening, we haven’t heard anything about this update. We aren’t sure if the plans were canceled or if they are just on hold.
Splash Mountain
We know that the beloved Splash Mountain will be going under a make refurbishment sometime in the future. What we don’t know however is when that will be.
Disney previously announced that the beloved water log ride will undergo a refurbishment as it is transitioned to Princess and the Frog. It will feature Tiana and all her friends.
We aren’t sure if Disney is waiting as they have said that the refurbishment will take a few years to complete.
Although we don’t want to miss out on Splash Mountain, we are interested in what the new theme will look like.
There are a lot of experiences throughout the Parks that Disney has said that they are coming back soon; however, they haven’t given a specific date.
Disney Dining Plan
One of the biggest questions Guests continue to have is when will the Disney Dining Plan return. Disney has said that it will return; however, a specific time frame hasn’t been announced.
The dining plans allow Guests to prepay for their dining for their vacation making it more of an all-inclusive vacation. Many Guests enjoyed being able to do this ahead of time so they didn’t have to worry about costs once they arrived at the Parks.
We wonder what the dining plans will look like moving forward and how Disney will adjust them when they do come back.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Speaking of dining, we are also waiting on a specific date for the new table-service restaurant in Toy Story Land. Roundup Rodeo BBQ is supposed to open in 2022. This location will be a fun, family-friendly option that shrinks Guests to toy size as they enjoy their meal in Andy’s backyard.
This highly anticipated restaurant is going to be a lot of dining reservations to snag so make sure you are on top of the opening date when it is announced.
Fantasmic
One nighttime show has not returned to the Parks and that is Fantasmic. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios we are still waiting for Fantasmic to return to the Park. We love this show that combines fireworks, projections, and Disney characters into one amazing show.
Disney has announced that new characters will be added to the show and we can’t wait to see what the update brings when it hopefully returns in 2022.
One of the reasons we love to go to Walt Disney World each year is because there is always something new and excited to experience. From new rides and shows to delicious snacks and meals, we can always find something new to try out.
If you are one that really wants to experience the newest Disney has to offer, it can be extremely hard to do so. Disney hasn’t been announcing openings as far in advance as they used to. This means that Guests are having to make adjustments and quick plans if they are wanting to be the first to experience something new.
What are you looking forward to the most that Disney hasn’t given an opening day for yet?
