Mom Sets Off Debate When She Visits Disney World WITHOUT Her Kids

When Walt Disney opened the gates of Disneyland Park to the public in 1955, he achieved his dream of creating a place that was not just for kids. It was a place where families could go and actually spend fun time together. It was also a place where adults could go and have fun without any kids at all.

Despite Walt’s desire to create a place that people of any age could enjoy, over the years, Disney theme parks have become a place that many people think is just for kids. In fact, people without kids who love Disney are frequently called “Disney adults,” but it is not a term of endearment. A lot of people tend to look down on “Disney adults,” finding them immature and assuming they are all childless millennials.

One mom has set the internet ablaze and stirred up quite the debate. However, it’s not because people are tired of her declaring her love for Disney. Instead, commenters were furious when she shared that she had gone on a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation WITHOUT her children.

Madalyn Jade Monaghan, who goes by MaddiesMickeyMagic on social media, shared a video on Instagram, showing herself looking sad as she hugs her young son goodbye. The video starts with Maddie expressing her “mom guilt”, but then it cuts to her dancing in EPCOT with a drink in her hand, excited to visit Disney without kids.

Commenters were quick to attack Maddie in the comments, with many calling her “weird” for leaving her kids to go on a trip to Disney World, which they think is for kids. They seemed to ignore the fact that Drinking Around the World is definitely something that is NOT for children, or anyone under 21.

Leave the kids to just go to a family destination surrounded by other kids, um weird

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a post about an adult having fun at Disney World without someone commenting about how truly awful all “Disney adults” are.

However, there were a lot of people who jumped in to defend Maddie and her adults-only Disney trips. They said that adults are allowed to take vacations without their kids, so why can’t they go to Disney? Some even accused those who were attacking Maddie of being jealous.

Everyone hating in these comments have either never been to Disney, are jealous, clearly have nothing that they enjoy or all 3. Let people do what they enjoy! Clearly she takes her kids to Disney but it’s okay for her to go without them. Have you all never gone on a vacation or done something without your kids??! Just because it’s Disney yall are hating. You enjoy what you enjoy so let others do the same.

Other commenters pointed out that spending two minutes on Maddie’s social media shows that she frequently takes her children to Disney theme parks. They found the attacks on her odd, since some people seemed to think that once someone becomes a parent, they are no longer allowed to travel without their kids or have fun without them.

When it comes to “Disney adults” — or any adult really — it’s important to remember one thing. Everyone has their preferences and places they love to go, so let’s not judge them. Some people like to go to the beach, some people like to take mountain hikes, and some people love to spend their time at Disney.

Do you think it’s weird for adults to go on Disney vacations without their children? Let us know in the comments!
