Bus Attack at Disney World

The 37-year-old Elijah Thomas of Orlando was arrested for his behavior in November of last year (2023). He boarded the Lynx bus from downtown Orlando and fell asleep.

When he woke up at the end of the line (Disney Springs), he was forced to get off. As such, he became agitated because he didn’t want to go to Walt Disney World Resort; he wanted to go to SeaWorld.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s report, the man became “irate” and “started to yell and curse” at the bus driver. Once he left the bus, the driver shut the door.

While Thomas waited outside, the bus driver allowed two other individuals to board the bus. When Thomas attempted to get back on, the bus driver refused (presumably because of his previous behavior).

After refusing to let him board the bus, Thomas punched the front glass door multiple times and kicked the glass, causing it to break. The damage to the door was estimated to be $500.

Thomas eventually left and began walking away. However, authorities soon stopped him on Buena Vista Drive.

Charges Dropped

Earlier this month (January 10), the state attorney’s office decided not to pursue the criminal charge against Thomas.

“From the investigation which has been made, it is the opinion of the writer that this case is not suitable for prosecution,” Assistant State Attorney Aseye Akos Ablordeppey stated in a court filing. “This action is taken to clear the records and to release subject’s bond if any has been posted responsive to the above charge. If in custody, defendant should be released.”

This is not the first time a guest on Walt Disney World Resort property has caused damage or gotten violent. It is, however, one of the few (if only) where the accused individual will face no legal action.
