Guests first mistake when planning a Walt Disney World vacation is that they don’t take the time to do the research. Walt Disney World is huge. Because of this, so much goes into a Walt Disney World vacation.

To have a successful trip, you should take time to do a little research. Read articles on How to Disney, listen to podcasts, and watch YouTube videos. Taking time to immerse yourself in Disney before you leave will help you be more prepared when you arrive.

Know what Walt Disney World offers, so you aren’t frustrated or overwhelmed when you arrive. Disney seems to have a unique language. Take time to learn some of it before you arrive.

9. Learn What is Offered

As part of your research, learn about what each of the four central Disney Parks offers. Knowing where specific rides and attractions are located within the Walt Disney World Resort helps you have a much better experience.

You want to understand the different rides before you get in line. Read about which roller coaters are in each Disney Park, which rides are suitable for little ones, and which might cause motion sickness.

Taking time before you arrive to learn this information can make your touring of the Disney Parks a lot smoother. It will help with meltdowns and frustrations.

7. Prioritizing Your Goals

Walt Disney World is huge. This means that no matter how long your trip is, you won’t be able to get everything accomplished. Head into Disney with a priority list for each Disney Park you plan to visit.

Have the family create a must-do list before vacation. Have this list of the top rides, shows, snacks, etc.; they want to ensure you don’t miss while in Disney. Having this list ahead of time can help you navigate the day and successfully tour the Park.

6. Prepare for the Weather

Don’t make the mistake of assuming that the weather will be perfect for your Disney vacation. The reality is that Disney gets rain almost every day in the summer. Because of this, you will want to make sure you are prepared.

Bring rain gear so you don’t get soaked but also prepare for other elements. When traveling in the summer, bring cooling towels, fans, and lots so sunscreen. During the cooler months, layers are essential.

Genie+ is a new feature that Guests can add to their Walt Disney World tickets. For a starting price of $15/day/person, this feature can add up quickly for families. No matter what you think you might do about Genie+, don’t make the mistake of not learning what it is and what it has to offer.Being more educated about Genie+ and how to use it will make it more accessible during your trip if you purchase it. Knowing more about Genie+ will also help you decide whether it is something your family will find helpful or not.

3. Not Having a Plan for Dining

Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can grab something to eat in the Parks quickly. There are two major dining options at Disney; both take a little preplanning.

Table service dining, where Guests are waited on, can be booked 60 days before check-in. This might seem extreme, but many popular restaurants throughout Disney do book up at the 60-day mark. This means that you need to be aware of when your 60 days so you too can book dining.

The other option is quick service. These don’t require reservations but still require a little bit of planning. Guests can order their quick service locations through their app. This feature is called mobile order. It is a fantastic way to bypass long lines that form during meal times.

2. Trying to do it all

Another major mistake that Guests make in Walt Disney World is trying to do it all. As we mentioned before, Walt Disney World is huge. Guests aren’t able to see and do it all during their vacation.

If you try to rush from place to place, it will cause meltdowns and frustrations. Instead, use the priority list to know where your goals are when you arrive.

1. Missing the magic

Finally, a significant mistake that is often made at Walt Disney World is that people are so busy rushing that they miss the magic.

Take time during your vacation to slow it all down. Those are the special moments that you will remember in years to come. Even though riding Big Thunder Mountain over and over is excellent, hanging out on the hub grass can be just as magical. Don’t miss those moments.
