How to Prepare for Issues During Your Disney Trip

It doesn’t matter how much time you put into your Walt Disney World vacation; some issues will still appear during your vacation.

Even if you keep up with the Disney news and constantly use the My Disney Experience app, unexpected things can impact your trip.

We hope that by bringing some of the most common issues to your attention, you can plan for them. This will make them easier to overcome when they show up during your Disney trip. Because chances are reasonable, you will face at least one of these issues while at Walt Disney World.

My Disney Experience App

A Dead Phone

Having your smartphone during your Walt Disney World trip has become essential. With how much we rely on My Disney Experience to navigate our days, phones are key to success.

Because of how essential smartphones are, we highly recommend everyone in your travel party have a portable charger. This can keep everyone fully charged and connected.

If you do forget your phone charger, don’t panic. Fuel rod stations throughout the Theme Park allow you to purchase a charger. Although this isn’t the cheapest option, it is better than being in the dark all day.

Dining Issues

Staying fueled and hydrated is essential to a Walt Disney World vacation. You can run into a significant issue if you don’t plan to eat throughout the day.

The first issue you might run into is if you need to remember to make dining reservations. If this is the case, don’t worry; Walt Disney World has many great food options.

The My Disney Experience App now shows walk-up options allowing you to snag last-minute dining reservations in the Parks and Resorts.

Many of the fantastic lounges, such as Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, also offer a walk-up list which is a great alternative to popular restaurants.

Another issue that you might come across when it relates to dining in Walt Disney World is mobile order issues. We love mobile ordering at Walt Disney World, but sometimes there are issues.

We highly recommend placing your mobile order ahead of time. There are multiple reasons for this. First, placing your orders early in the day will make you more likely to get the time you prefer. Also, if you wait to place an order when everyone is already hungry, you might wait a while before you can get your food.

Don’t let mobile ordering or a lack of dining reservations impact your Walt Disney World vacation. Instead, have a plan ahead of time or be willing to adjust your plans if needed.

DIsney Weather

Weather Problems

Disney is magical, but the weather still happens even with all that magic. Be aware that all types of weather happen at Walt Disney World, and you must be prepared for it.

Right now, in Walt Disney World, we are seeing cooler-than-normal temperatures. Make sure you are heading down during the winter months and that you pack layers. Have coats, hats, and mittens for everyone. This will keep them nice and toasty.

No matter when you visit, know that it can rain. Have your rain gear packed, such as ponchos and umbrellas, so you can keep moving around the Parks without issues. No matter what percent the weather app gives you for rain, we recommend tossing that gear into your Park bag.

Finally, if you are heading down when it is hot, make sure you have sunscreen, hats, and portable fans. These can make a huge difference in keeping everyone comfortable.

Not preparing for the weather can significantly impact your experience at Walt Disney World. Make sure you are ready and have those essential items packed.

Closed Space Mountain

Rides Are Closed or Shut Down

Before heading down for your vacation, make sure you stay up to date on what rides might be down during your vacation. For example, Disney has already announced that Splash Mountain will go down at the beginning of 2023 and won’t reopen until 2024. Be aware of this so everyone is prepared ahead of time if some rides won’t be opened when you travel.

Having rides shut down when you are in Disney can be a big disappointment. Disney does a fantastic job of trying to keep all rides up and running for Guests, but sometimes things need maintenance.

If this happens during your vacation, try not to let it significantly impact your trip. Look for other experiences that you can have instead.

When a ride goes down that you have been waiting for, talk to a Cast Member to see your options for getting to ride in the future. Remember, it isn’t their fault it broke down, so be kind.

Transportation Issues

Having free transportation around the Walt Disney World Resort is a huge bonus and helps takes the stress out of driving around Walt Disney World.

This doesn’t mean that Disney transportation is without issues. Don’t let them ruin your trip if you run into long lines at the bus or Skyliner stations. Know that Disney is typically on top of it and will send more buses to help get everyone where they need to be quickly.

If you are in a big hurry, know that you choose to hire a ride-share service to get to and from your destinations. This can sometimes save you time but might cost more depending on surge pricing so keep that in mind.

Don’t let transportation issues ruin your day. Plan extra time to get around, and you won’t be as stressed.

No matter how much you plan for your Walt Disney World vacation, some things you aren’t expecting can impact it. These are some significant issues that Guests run into throughout their trip. Hopefully, by knowing about them, you will be more prepared and ready when they show up during your trip.
