Disney On Ice is a perfect way to get a little Disney fix. For younger Guests, this is often an ideal way to introduce them to the magic of Disney. Going to see a Disney On Ice show can also add to your excitement in preparation for an upcoming Disney vacation.

We have five essential tips for attending a Disney On Ice show. Whether you’re a regular Guest at a Disney On Ice show or it’s your first time to see it, we’re sure they’ll come in useful!

Choose the Show that’s Right for You

Currently, there are five Disney On Ice shows touring North America. The different shows feature different Disney characters. For this reason, getting tickets for the show that’s right for you and your party is a good idea. Your little ones will likely have their favorite Disney character, who they’d love to see in the show.

The Disney On Ice Shows currently touring are:

  • Find Your Hero – features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Tinker Bell and tells the stories of Moana (2016), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Tangled (2010), and The Little Mermaid (1989).
  • Into The Magic – features favorite Disney characters, including Coco (2017), MoanaCinderella (1950), Frozen(2013), and Tangled.

Sit near the Front

If you still need to buy tickets, we recommend securing Disney On Ice tickets that are as close to the ice as possible. Rinkside seats will help you feel like you are part of the show. You’ll feel a breeze from the skaters as they skate passed, and they may even interact with you directly. Sitting in the lower tier of the arena will provide you with a great overall view. Screens are provided to see characters up close, but you will see all of the show and appreciate the skills shown from a bit further back.

Dress Warm

Each show of Disney On Ice takes place on a real ice rink. Beloved Disney characters and stories are brought to life by accomplished and professional ice skaters. As such, the arena where you will enjoy the show is likely to be a little chilly. Layers are a good idea to help you stay warm while you watch the show. Taking a blanket for over your legs is also a good idea.

Dress Up

Seeing as you are about to enjoy a Disney show, it’s only fitting to don your Disney attire. This can be in the form of Disney apparel or full Disney costumes. Add an extra touch of magic by wearing mouse ears.

Let your little ones dress up as their favorite Disney character too. It’s sure to add to the magical Disney experience they’re about to have. Costumes over layers are a good idea, so they aren’t too cold during the show.

Take Snacks

Popcorn, cotton candy, and other sweet treats go down well when you’re enjoying a show. They taste even better when you haven’t spent a fortune buying them!

Popcorn, cotton candy, and shaved ice are available from the Disney On Ice suppliers. However, you can expect to pay a small fortune to get your hands on them. While they may be served in cute Disney containers, will you or your little ones use them again? If you’ve visited the Walt Disney World Resort, and have a souvenir popcorn bucket, why not fill this to take to the Disney On Ice show?

To limit the amount of spending you may be enticed to do when at the show, you may wish to promise your younger Guests one item each. If you’re planning on taking the other snacks, this will leave only the shaved ice as a potential purchase if your kids want to try it.

Take Glow in the Dark Accessories

You may consider treating your party to accessories before the show starts. There are plenty of items available to purchase once inside the arena. Guests can buy light-up wands, glowing bubble blowers, and more. However, they do come with a cost. Having recently been to a Disney On Ice show, we were surprised by the price of the accessories and toys that were available to purchase. ‘Captive audience’ is the term we’d use to describe it.

So, plan ahead if you’re planning on taking your children to a Disney On Ice show. Let them take their favorite toy, bubble wand from the Disney Parks, or light-up accessories from Walt Disney World. Alternatively, buy some online before you go to see the show. Surprise your kids with them on the morning of the show, to take with them. The kids will already have accessories so they won’t need the ones on sale in the arena. In doing so, you’ll save yourself a fair amount of money!
