Genie+ at EPCOT: Which Rides Are Worth the Extra Cost?

EPCOT can be a hard Park to plan for when getting ready to visit Walt Disney World. It is a huge Park, so you need to be strategic so you don’t spend your whole time walking around it. This is even more important because of the construction around the Park. EPCOT is going through a considerable transformation. If you aren’t prepared, you might struggle and become frustrated.

Another great way to get around EPCOT is by using Genie+. This is a paid feature that Guests can add to their vacation via the My Disney Experience app. The cost is $15 per day and varies based on crowd levels. Once Guests purchase Genie+, they have access to the Lightning Lanes, which allows them to bypass the standby line. This can be a great way to save time in line throughout your day in EPCOT.

Knowing how to maximize your investment is crucial if you use Genie+ in EPCOT. Not all rides need Genie+. We want to help you make sure that you avoid the most extended lines while visiting. To help you do this, we have five rides you should use Genie+ on and five rides you shouldn’t. Use this to create your plans.

Five Rides for Genie+

When looking at the rides in EPCOT that need Genie+, you want to focus on those experiences that will have the most extended wait throughout the day. There are five that we would recommend.

Remy's Ratatouille Adventure

Remy’s Ratotoulie Adventure- France Pavilion

A ride that the whole family can enjoy, Remy’s Ratotoulie Adventure is a trackless dark ride. Guests are shrunk to the size of Remy as they race through Guseau’s Kitchen, trying to stay out of trouble.

This is a 4D ride that combines screens and sets to create a fun ride experience that everyone can enjoy together. Since everyone can ride, wait times get incredibly long and remain long throughout the day, making it a fantastic option for Genie+.

Frozen Ever After- Norway Pavilion

Frozen Ever After is another family-friendly ride that is a fantastic choice for Genie+. Found in the Norway Pavilion, Guests board a boat and travel through the story of Anna and Elsa as they search for true love.

This slow-moving boat ride is a typical Disney boat ride making it great for everyone to experience together. Like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, the line starts building early in the day and remains long throughout. Once again, those long lines and the huge popularity of this ride make it perfect for Genie+.

Soarin in Epcot

Soarin Around the World- Land Pavilion

Soar high above some of the world’s greatest wonders on Soarin’ Around the World in EPCOT. Guests get to experience the feeling of hang-gliding on this trendy ride in EPCOT.

Fly high over majestic landscapes such as the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, and the Swiss Alps. This is done on a giant digital projection screen that creates the sensation of flight.

Soarin’ Around the World continues to be an extremely popular ride at EPCOT. Guests love this ride, and with a slower loading process, wait times get longer as the day progresses. Avoid the long wait by having Genie+.

Test Track- World Discovery

Get ready for a fast ride with Test Track. Create your car and test it through various thrilling terrains and obstacles. Wrap up the ride with a 65-mile-per-hour race outside. Test Track goes down with the weather, often making the wait time long. Ensure your ride with a Genie+ reservation early in the day.

Mission: SPACE

Mission: SPACE- World Discovery

Mission: SPACE is a simulated NASA-style ride that takes Guests into orbit. There are two different versions depending on your adventure level. Blast off to Mars on the intense Orange Mission or orbit the less severe Green Mission. No matter which version you choose, this extremely thrilling ride gets long waits during the middle of the day. If you want to blast off, make sure that you snag a Genie+ to avoid the long wait.

Five Rides That Don’t Need Genie+

Although we love Gene+, some rides throughout EPCOT don’t need Genie+ to enjoy with lower waits.

Journey Into Imagination with Figment- World Celebration

Join the colorful purple dragon Figment as he takes you through the delightful ride filled with sensory labs at the Imagination Institute. We love Figment, but the ride doesn’t need Genie+ to enjoy. A constant loader, this ride never sees a long wait meaning you won’t need Genie+ here.

Living with the Land- Land Pavilion

Take a ride on this slow boat ride through the gardens of EPCOT. This educational ride allows Guests to learn about how the horticulture team in EPCOT is making advancements in gardening. With a considerable loading ability, Living with the Lane never sees long waits. Don’t Use a Genie+ reservation, which isn’t needed throughout the day at EPCOT.

Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth- World Celebration

The most iconic ride in EPCOT is Spaceship Earth. Travel through time to explore amazing parts of history. Learn about communication from the Stone Age to the computer age in a unique ride. It might not be the most exciting ride in EPCOT; however, it is iconic.

If you plan to ride Spaceship Earth, don’t use a Genie+ reservation. Instead, look at visiting when the wait times drop. This is typically after opening and before closing.

Seas with Nemo and Friends

The Seas with Nemo and Friends- World Nature

Travel under the sea with Nemo, Dory, and all their friends on this classic Disney dark ride. Guests board their clamshells and travel through the story of Nemo. During the ride, get a quick glimpse into the fantastic aquarium found in this area.

Although we love this ride, you don’t need to use Genie+ to enjoy it. Typically wait times are low, and Guests can easily walk onto the attraction throughout the day.

gran fiesta

Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros- Mexico Pavilion

Hidden inside the fantastic pyramid is the Gran Fiesta Tour. This boat ride takes Guests on an adventure through Mexico, searching for Donald. This is a cute, fun boat ride; however, we don’t recommend using a Genie+ reservation. Look for when the wait times are low, and then save your Genie+ reservations for the top rides in EPCOT.

Genie+ is a great feature that Guests can add to their Walt Disney World vacation. When purchasing Genie+, knowing how to get the most out of your investment is essential. We hope this breakdown of the five rides to use Genie+ on and the five to skip will help you plan your EPCOT day.
