Galaxy’s Edge in Legal Trouble Over Stormtrooper Encounter Gone Wrong

A day in a galaxy far, far away didn’t go as planned for one family visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. What should’ve been a fun stroll through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge ended in injury—and now, a lawsuit.

If you’ve ever visited Galaxy’s Edge, you know how immersive it can be. With roaming Stormtroopers barking orders and Kylo Ren making sudden appearances, it’s designed to make guests feel like they’re in the middle of a Star Wars movie. But for one child, that immersive experience might have gone a little too far.

According to a lawsuit recently filed in Florida, an Arizona mom claims that her son was startled so badly by a roaming Stormtrooper that he flipped out of his stroller—literally. The incident happened back in December 2023, and the mom, Meghann Miller, is now suing Disney for negligence.

She says her child was sitting in a stroller unattended when the costumed cast member came too close. The sudden encounter allegedly caused the young boy to react in fear, flipping the stroller and injuring himself in the process. The lawsuit references medical expenses and claims the incident has led to ongoing financial consequences for the family.

But Disney isn’t the only one being blamed here. The stroller manufacturer, Safemark Systems, is also being sued. Miller’s legal team argues that the stroller was poorly designed and contributed to the accident.

Neither Disney nor the stroller company has made a public comment, but the situation is adding to an already growing list of lawsuits Disney has faced in 2025—from injury claims to discrimination cases.

This whole situation is also reigniting a familiar debate: are Disney’s character interactions too intense for young kids? While some parents think the in-character roleplay adds to the fun, others worry that it can be overwhelming—especially when performers come face-to-face with toddlers.

At the end of the day, it’s a reminder that even the most magical experiences can go sideways in an instant. Whether the case heads to trial or gets settled quietly, it’s now part of the ongoing conversation about safety, theme park immersion, and how far is too far when it comes to entertaining guests.
