EPCOT Guest Drinks Dirty Roof Water Despite Free Options Nearby

When you’re out in the Florida heat at Walt Disney World Resort, staying hydrated is essential. But for one guest at EPCOT, the solution turned out to be… unconventional.

Recently, a Disney Parks fan shared a story about witnessing a guest quenching their thirst with water dripping from a roof—an unusual choice, especially given the free water options available throughout the park.

This incident surfaced in response to a social media prompt asking Disney Parks fans to share the “grossest thing” they’d ever seen at a theme park. X (formerly Twitter) user @BROserade responded with the surprising tale of a guest spotted sipping from a roof runoff at EPCOT:

Of course, staying hydrated at Disney parks can add up if you rely solely on bottled water. Recently, Walt Disney World Resort raised the price of Dasani water bottles to $4 across its parks, including Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. For families, this can mean a noticeable increase in expenses throughout a visit.

Fortunately, Disney parks offer several free hydration options. Quick Service restaurants across all parks provide complimentary cups of ice water, and there are also water fountains and bottle refill stations located throughout EPCOT and other Disney parks.

Still, this EPCOT guest opted for a more adventurous approach. While it’s unclear exactly how they drank the water—whether by holding a bottle under the roof or by another method—most would agree that untreated roof runoff is far from the ideal way to stay cool. Unfiltered water, especially from a roof, could contain contaminants that might lead to an unpleasant experience later in the day.
