Walt Disney World Resort is shaking things up at EPCOT with the announcement of a major change: an exclusive adults-only lounge set to open inside the iconic Spaceship Earth. The new lounge, named GEO-82, will be an upscale destination for guests 21 and older, offering a sophisticated space to enjoy drinks, dine, and take in breathtaking views of the World Celebration gardens and World Showcase Lagoon.
The announcement comes after Disney first teased the concept of two new attraction-themed lounges at the D23 Expo 2024. GEO-82 will take over the former Siemens lounge above Project Tomorrow at EPCOT, while another lounge, themed around Pirates of the Caribbean, will open in Magic Kingdom Park’s Adventureland. Both projects are currently under construction and set to welcome guests sometime in 2025.
While specifics about the lounges have been kept under wraps, Disney has finally revealed the name and concept for the EPCOT location. On March 17, Walt Disney World Resort shared new details about GEO-82, including the inspiration behind its name and the design elements that will make this space stand out. Mallory Heinz Ladet, a Disney Public Relations Manager, offered a sneak peek at what guests can expect from the lounge:
“Can you name a place at Walt Disney World where you can spend an elegant time indulging in modern cocktails, taking in views of sprawling World Celebration gardens and World Showcase Lagoon from inside a world-famous icon? I can – and that place is GEO-82, the all-new lounge coming to EPCOT.”
The name GEO-82 is a tribute to Spaceship Earth’s geometric design and the year EPCOT first opened: 1982. As for the lounge’s aesthetics, Disney promises it will be a stunning blend of modern luxury and iconic design elements inspired by the park’s most recognizable symbol.
“This lounge will be the ultimate spot to toast to a trip around EPCOT with innovative cocktails and globally influenced small plates while you take in spectacular park views,” Ladet said. “With this new lounge, you’ll feel like you’re discovering an all-new part of Spaceship Earth – GEO-82 will surround you with iconic shapes and intricate structures inspired by the park’s instantly-recognizable icon. You’ll sit amid rich textures and warm, metallic tones that echo Spaceship Earth in an elegant and intimate setting.”
Walt Disney World Resort also confirmed that GEO-82 will be an adults-only venue. Guests must be 21 or older to enter, and reservations will be required due to “extremely limited space.” Additionally, the lounge will not accept the Disney Dining Plan.
Though an official opening date hasn’t been confirmed yet, Disney Parks Blog promised that more information about GEO-82’s offerings, including its innovative cocktails and small plates, will be released soon.
