Holidays

Walt Disney World is highly magical during the holiday season but also extremely busy. If you aren’t 100% invested in seeing the Halloween or Christmas decorations, consider avoiding this time of year for your trip.

The Christmas season starts at Walt Disney World right after Halloween wraps up. Christmas trees and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will begin at the beginning of November. Although you will see a slight increase in crowds throughout November and December, there are some weeks that you will specifically want to avoid because of crowds.

The week surrounding Thanksgiving, the week before Christmas, and the week between Christmas and New Year are some of the busiest weeks at Walt Disney World. Not only will this week bring high crowds, but you will also see high prices during this period.

Christmas time is extra special, but you must know that this time will also come with many extra people enjoying the magic with you. If celebrating the holidays at Walt Disney World is essential to you, consider looking at visiting early on during December or November.

Three Day Weekends

Another time throughout the year that you will want to avoid when visiting Walt Disney World is those three-day weekends. Holidays such as President’s Day Weekend, Martin Luther King Day, Labor Day, and Memorial Day all bring large crowds to Disney Parks.

Many schools provide long weekends for students during these long weekends. Because of this, many families will use this time for a quick trip down to the magic. Locals will also use these long weekends to get aware of a short trip.

As you plan your 2024 trip to Walt Disney World, consider whether these long weekends will be best for your family. If you only have a short time to experience the magic, visiting during busier times can make it difficult to experience your must-dos.

Typically, we see the middle weeks of March as the busiest this month. Guests love the warmer weather, the beautiful flowers, and the excitement of spring in the air.

Pay attention to when Easter is in 2024. The weeks before and after Easter weekend become jam-packed. Many smaller schools use this holiday as spring break, which adds to the crowds. If this is when you are planning to head down to Walt Disney World in 2024, make sure that you intend to ensure you get your dining, Park Reservations, and hotel reservations.

Summer

The summer months are challenging not only because of the crowds that show up but also the heat and humidity. June through August are extremely difficult due to the harsh weather conditions. However, we all look forward to the summer sunshine, the heat, and the humidity that shows up in Flordia in full force.

Afternoon rain storms also impact the summer months. The combination of high crowds, heat, and rain can make the summer months at Walt Disney World feel less than magical. If this is the only time you can head to Walt Disney World (hello, fellow teachers), research how to manage the weather and the crowds.

Hurricane Season

The last time you want to avoid in 2024 revolves around hurricane season. This season runs from April to October; however, we often see the most activity during September and October.

Hurricanes bring a lot of rain and can even shut down Parks if there is an incoming storm. This can cause a lot of stress on a vacation that is supposed to be magical. If you can wait for the peak hurricane season to be over, that can help give you peace of mind. You don’t want to spend all the effort to plan a trip only to have it canceled due to weather.

Overall, these are the five times throughout 2024 that you should avoid, if at all possible. During these times, you will see larger crowds which can significantly impact your overall experience. These periods can also have weather that can have a large impact on your overall experience.

If these are the only times of the year you’ll be able to visit Walt Disney World in 2024, don’t panic. With some planning, you can still have a magical time. Know that going in crowds will be higher and that you might need to manage your expectations. If you do that, you will still have a fantastic time at Walt Disney World in 2024.
