Disney World’s 30-Year-Old Entrance Receives Immediate Overhaul

One of Walt Disney World Resort’s most recognizable entrances has received a fresh new look.

Several major roads lead onto Disney property, with large welcome signs marking the point where guests officially enter the resort. The gateways have become landmarks in their own right, featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Walt Disney World’s familiar blue-and-gold branding.

One of those entrances sits on Hotel Plaza Boulevard near Disney Springs. The gateway dates back to the 1990s and has been updated several times over the years, including a major color overhaul ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

Disney World Entrance Receives Fresh Overhaul

The Walt Disney World entrance on Hotel Plaza Boulevard has now been refurbished, according to WDW News Today.

Located near the intersection of Hotel Plaza Boulevard and State Road 535, the sign welcomes guests approaching Disney Springs and the hotels located along Hotel Plaza Boulevard.

The structure’s large blue backdrop has received a fresh coat of paint, making the white “Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort” lettering appear noticeably brighter.

The gold banner positioned above the resort name, which reads “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” has also been refreshed as part of the work.

Mickey Mouse remains positioned on the north side of the entrance, while Minnie Mouse appears at the opposite end. Both characters have also been cleaned up, with their red, yellow, white, and black details appearing brighter following the refurbishment.

Disney has repainted the gray columns around Mickey, while the gold caps and spherical decorations have also been refreshed to better match the trim running across the sign.

However, the project may not be completely finished. Some details around Minnie’s side of the gateway still appear to be awaiting fresh gold paint.

The landscaping surrounding the entrance remains largely unchanged, with trimmed shrubs and agave plants still lining the base of the structure.

The Hotel Plaza Boulevard gateway first debuted in the 1990s alongside several other Walt Disney World entrances.

Have you spotted the refreshed sign?
