Disney Hints at Canada Start, Fans Wonder About Park Expansion
A recent post from the Disney Parks account on Threads caused an unexpected stir among fans, sparking rumors about the possibility of Walt Disney World Resort leaving Florida for Canada. The social media comment, which seemed innocent enough, left some Great Northern Disney enthusiasts hopeful for an expansion of The Most Magical Place on Earth.
It all started when Disney Parks participated in the “We listen, and we don’t judge” trend, where users share controversial opinions. The account wrote, “We start in Canada…We listen and we don’t judge.” While the post seemed to reference a playful debate about how to experience EPCOT’s World Showcase, some fans interpreted it as a major announcement about a new Disney theme park project.
A Viral Debate Turns Into Speculation
In a now-viral TikTok video, user @drunkdistory highlighted the Disney Parks post and added their own playful commentary. “The tribe has spoken,” they said. “We start in Canada. To all you Mexico starters, we listen, and we don’t judge.”

The comment references a longstanding debate among EPCOT visitors: should you start your journey around World Showcase in Canada or Mexico? While Disney’s comment delighted Canada-starters, some viewers misunderstood it as a cryptic hint about a new Disney park in the Great North.
The TikTok video amassed over 400,000 views, with many users chiming in. Some were disappointed that Disney seemed to prefer starting in Canada over grabbing a margarita in Mexico.
“Why would I start in Canada, when I can start my day with a Margarita?” wrote @sourmango305.
“I start in Mexico, only because it feels right to go clockwise instead of counterclockwise,” said @itsmethesteph.
A Disney Park in Canada?
Some fans took the comment literally, believing it was a tease for a Canadian Disney park. The speculation gained so much traction that TikToker @drunkdistory had to clarify in a follow-up video.
“A lot of people interpreted my video that said, ‘We start in Canada,’ as if they are making a new Disney park in Canada,” the TikToker explained. “It got people’s hopes up, and I feel really bad about that… [It’s] a very inside baseball jokey debate among fans of Disney World in which way you start the World Showcase.”
@drunkdistory Replying to @Kimberly Sorry for not providing more context. My content usually stay within my Disney Parks niche so I foolishly assumed everyone knew what I was referring to. My bad! #disneyfyp #disneyparks #epcot
While the rumor that Disney is building a park in Canada is untrue, the idea isn’t entirely far-fetched. Disney has expanded globally with parks in France, China, and Japan. However, there’s no indication that Canada is on the company’s radar for future development.
For now, the closest Canadian Disney fans can get to experiencing the magic is a trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California.
If The Walt Disney Company did build another theme park destination, where would be the best place for it? Let How to Disney know in the comments!
THEY should put a new park in the US , maybe in texas to take some of the pressures off WDW and DisneyLand. There are some days we go and its not so busy, but most of the time by 9 am at WDW the rides are 45 minutes and up for waiting……. Canada would be my second choice.. I am not sure how Canadas wonderland is now since its been many many years since we went there. I would definately visit one in texas though.
