Disney World Confirms Free Halloween Event Beginning October 5

Halloween at Walt Disney World has gotten expensive.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs $119 to $229 per person, depending on the night, and several dates are already sold out. Party-exclusive merch moves fast. Popcorn buckets and sippers stack up. A family of four can clear $600 on a single party night before anybody buys a churro.

That does not make the party bad. It is one of the best hard-ticket events Disney runs. It does mean plenty of guests are hunting for Halloween options that do not require financing.

Disney Vacation Club Members have one, and it is back this year.

Three Dates

The Membership Magic event runs inside Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s BoardWalk on:

  • Monday, October 5, 2026
  • Monday, October 12, 2026
  • Monday, October 26, 2026

Each runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern.

Two-hour windows. Three dates total. Timing is not flexible.

You Only Get One

The rule that trips people up.

Members are limited to one date per DVC Membership. Disney built it that way so that as many eligible participants as possible can get in.

No hitting all three. Pick one and plan around it.

What Happens Inside

Attendees meet Disney Characters dressed in Halloween costumes and collect candy.

Specific characters and treat selections have not been announced and are subject to change.

For reference, the first Disney Vacation Club Halloween Meet & Treat at Disney’s BoardWalk in 2022 featured the hag from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Vampire Goofy, and Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

That tells you the tone. These are not standard character meets. The costumed versions are the whole draw, and the hag especially is a rare pull.

Who Actually Qualifies for This Disney Offering

Layered requirements, so read closely.

  • Open to Disney Vacation Club Members eligible for Membership Extras
  • Members need a qualifying reservation booked through their eligible Membership
  • That reservation must be at a Disney-owned-and-operated Walt Disney World Resort hotel or Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
  • The reservation has to be active the day you attend

That last one matters most. A Membership alone does not get you in. You need to be staying on a qualifying reservation that day.

Your Group Size

Each Member may bring up to four guests per Membership Card, or the number of guests on their resort reservation.

Anyone under 18 needs a participating parent or guardian.

Nothing to Book

Relief for anyone tired of 7 a.m. booking windows.

No advance registration required.

Members present a valid Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card and photo ID at check-in, and the person named on the card has to be there.

Pull the Membership Card up in the app before you walk over, and make sure the named Member is in your group.

Why This Disney Venue Makes Sense

Atlantic Dance Hall is a smart pick.

Indoor and air conditioned, which matters enormously in Central Florida in early October when the heat has not fully broken. Anyone who attempted an outdoor character meet this August understands immediately.

Disney’s BoardWalk also walks to EPCOT and boats to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so this folds into a morning before a park day instead of becoming its own separate trip.

And it lands on Mondays, generally lighter days across property.

It Is Not a Disney Party Replacement

Straight comparison.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a full evening. Parade, fireworks, stage show, trick-or-treating across Magic Kingdom, deep character lineup. This is two hours of characters and candy.

Different things entirely, and this does not substitute for a party ticket.

What it is: a free Halloween experience with rare costumed characters, indoors, on a Monday morning, for Members already staying on property. That is a legitimately good perk at zero cost.
