Disney Quietly Unveils New Tower of Terror Location Near Iconic Ride
Disney has opened a new retail location next to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, repurposing a former Fastpass area into a themed storefront as part of ongoing changes at one of its international parks.
The addition debuted January 31 and sits directly beside the longtime drop-tower attraction, placing fresh infrastructure around a ride that some fans once feared could disappear.

The update arrives during a broader period of redevelopment across Walt Disney Studios Park, where construction walls, rerouted pathways, and new lands have become common sights over the past two years.
Major expansion plans have dominated the conversation.
Still, smaller operational changes often reveal just as much about Disneyās priorities.
Replacing an unused space with permanent retail next to Tower of Terror sends a practical message. The company is building around the attraction rather than phasing it out.

That approach contrasts with past decisions elsewhere.
In 2017, Disney California Adventure permanently closed its Tower of Terror and replaced it with Guardians of the Galaxy ā Mission: BREAKOUT!, a move that sparked years of speculation about the brandās long-term future at other resorts.
Those concerns lingered, particularly as Disney increased its use of Marvel, Pixar, and other franchises across legacy spaces.
This time, the strategy looks different.
Former Fastpass Area Converted Into Retail
The new shop occupies the footprint once used for paper Fastpass distribution, a system Disney retired in favor of digital reservations.
Rather than demolish the structure or leave it idle, the company converted it into a small storefront steps from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

The design avoids heavy branding.
Instead of ride logos or character art, the exterior leans into a period look intended to match the surrounding streetscape. Flower displays, muted tones, and black-and-white photos reference a 1930s Hollywood storefront.
Former Walt Disney Imagineering executive Jim Shull praised the execution publicly.
“Congratulations to the Disney #Imagineering team to deliver to guests a clever and appropriate design for the former fast pass facility,” he wrote. “Flower shops of this type were common in the Hollywood of the 1930s.”
Guest reactions were mixed.

“Imagineering used to be the standard, now even Epic Universe has better shop theming,” one user wrote, sharing images of Disneyland Paris stores of times gone by. “We used to be a real country.”
Others criticized the interior.
“The outside is lovely and great, but the inside sucks,” another user wrote. “The sweets/merch is very out of place in that area and the random second hand decor doesnt match a flower shop or the era.”
Some questioned the scale.
One said, “Lovely but damn small. Did we really need to limit it to the existing perimeter of the old Fastpass kiosks? Is DLP so desperate for savings?”
Others wanted more ride-specific merchandise.
“If it were at least unique Tower of Terror candy,” another lamented.
Despite the complaints, the store permanently anchors the attractionās surroundings with new theming and guest flow.
Part of a Larger Shift Across the Park
Tower of Terror remains one of the parkās core draws.
Nearby attractions include Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement ToquĆ©e de RĆ©my, Crush’s Coaster, RC Racer, andĀ Avengers Assemble: Flight Force.
The Paris version of the ride also stands apart creatively.

A 2019 overhaul introduced darker lighting, more aggressive drop sequences, and three randomized storylines, giving repeat riders different experiences each cycle and leaning harder into horror than nostalgia.
The shop opening also comes ahead of a larger identity change.
Walt Disney Studios Park is preparing to relaunch as Disney Adventure World, a multi-year expansion designed to add new lands, landscaped walkways, and additional entertainment.
The project will include World of Frozen, similar to versions at Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
A family ride inspired by Tangled is also planned near the new promenade.
A lake called Adventure Bay will host a nighttime spectacular combining fireworks, water screens, and drones.
