Brand-New Disney Ride Faces Lower Wait Times on Opening Day

Disney’s latest expansion didn’t bring in the crowds some fans may have expected.

While places like Disneyland and Walt Disney World are famous for their historic rides and attractions, it’s crucial that they also manage to keep upgrading the overall experience for guests. In recent years, we’ve seen Walt Disney Imagineering produce some of the best attractions we’ve ever seen, with new experiences like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in 2022, as well as the entirety of Pandora – The World of Avatar back in 2017.
The newest addition to the Disney Parks experience is World of Frozen.

World of Frozen officially opened at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on November 20, 2023, and has already become one of the best theme park expansions in Disney’s history. The land stands tall next to the other major Disney Parks expansions like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, New Fantasyland, and Avengers Campus bringing the world of Disney’s Frozen franchise to life.
Guests visiting the World of Frozen will be able to see Elsa’s Ice Palace and the Kingdom of Arendelle with all of its sights, sounds, cuisines, and traditions in a fully immersive experience while having the chance to meet Queens Elsa and Anna.
Hong Kong Disneyland is one of the newer additions to The Walt Disney Company’s collection of theme parks, with the resort first opening in 2005. Guests will find Hong Kong Disneyland located in Lantau Island, Hong Kong, China.

World of Frozen is home to Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs, a brand new roller coaster that is incredibly well-themed, if not exceptionally short. The new land is also home to an upgraded version of Frozen Ever After, a ride that first opened in EPCOT at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. To say World of Frozen is a major success for Disney thematically and storytelling-wise would be an understatement. However, it seems like crowds were far lower than we, or Disney, may have expected them to be on opening day.
Several users quickly pointed out the low wait times at World of Frozen, with the rest of Hong Kong Disneyland being significantly more crowded than this new area.
It’s a normal Monday at Tokyo DisneySea and 5 rides currently have longer waits than the grand opening day of Frozen in Hong Kong pic.twitter.com/oUPFEVr09w

As you can see, Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs sat at a hefty wait time but failed to even crack the top five most popular attractions during the day.
The Hong Kong Disney Resort is full of classic Disney theme park experiences. Guests will find familiar rides and attractions like “it’s a small world” and Dumbo the Flying Elephant as well as unique experiences that can only be found here like Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars and Mystic Manor, the resort’s version of the iconic Haunted Mansion.
Will you be visiting World of Frozen? What’s our favorite Disney theme park area?

That X link was comparing Hong Kong to Tokyo wait times. China is having a hard time economically, it only makes sense they wouldn’t be crushed with guests right now. Poor reporting.
