Fans Nominate Who Should Play Flynn Rider in Disney’s Live-Action ‘Tangled’

Disney fans have had it up to their ears with live-action remakes and are clamoring for more original work from the teams behind Disney and Pixar films — but Disney announced plans for yet another live-action Disney Princess movie, regardless of fans’ complaints!

The 2010 animated Disney Princess film about Rapunzel, Tangled (2010), is reportedly receiving its own live-action remake.

No More Zachary Levi?

The movie follows Rapunzel (played by Princess Diaries and This Is Us star Mandy Moore) as she escapes her tower, defeats the villainous Mother Gothel, and falls in love with the charming rogue Flynn Rider (played by Shazam star Zachary Levi).

Tangled was such a success that it has its own three-season show on Disney+, which picks up where the film’s 2017 sequel, Tangled: Before Ever After, left off!

So far, we have not heard anything from Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi when it comes to reprising their roles in the live-action version of the original 2010 animated movie — but if Zachary Levi is not returning, Disney fans already have someone else in mind for his role!

But Can He Smolder?

A Bollywood star and Hindi film actor with an “uncanny” resemblance to Flynn Rider is being put forward for the Disney role among fans.

“Hear me out,” a Bollywood and Disney fan wrote on Twitter, sharing images of Bollywood celebrity Ranveer Singh. The images certainly do reveal that Ranveer Singh looks a lot like Flynn Rider (also known as Eugene Fitzherbert) and that Ranveer Singh can pull off the Flynn Rider smolder!

“The Resemblance Is Uncanny”

“Everyone’s talking about it,” another Ranveer Singh fan wrote in response. “The resemblance is uncanny.”

“He’s just perfect for that role,” another fan agreed when discussing the Ladies vs Ricky Bahl actor. Fans are uniting on Twitter to praise the Gully Boy actor’s suitability for Flynn Rider, due to both his physical appearance and his personality!

Since Flynn Rider is a Disney Princess’s love interest but deliberately has very little in common with the Disney Princes of old like Prince Philip and Prince Charming, this is a high bar to surpass!

Live-action Disney films are receiving more and more negative feedback before they even premiere in theaters or on Disney+, but Disney fans do still enjoy choosing their dream actors to play the roles before Disney actually casts anyone.

Even if the live-action Tangled is poorly received, the potential casting of Ranveer Singh is bound to be more welcome than the recent casting theory about Robert Pattinson in the role of Prince Naveen!
